Sebastian's pov
I woke up moaning. My head was started to pound. I heard voices and movement behind me.
The last thing I remember was Cody and I sitting on the ground when I was telling him a story about the full moon. He didn't believe me. He started yelling at me and that's when I turned around seeing the beast. It took out Cody first then came for me. I broke a pole from the tent and managed to fight it off before it bit my foot and I fell over hitting my head on something hard.
When I came back people were talking. I saw Cody's blonde hair beside my face but I couldn't move. I ended up blacking out again.
"Seb," I heard her whisper in my ear.
I jumped out the bed I was laying in and looked around. I grabbed a lamp from the side table and held it like a bat ready to swing.
"Sebastian calm down," Mack put her hands up. One of her hands were bandaged up.
"You're the beast. You attacked Cody and I," I said which made her look down at her hand.
"I'm sorry Sebastian but I couldn't help it. It was a full moon and you insisted on coming out," she tried to explain herself while tears rolled down her face,"I'm not the only wolf anymore."
"You turned me into a beast," I said with my mouth dropping open. I searched my neck. Sure enough I felt a bite mark.
"I need to go home," I exclaimed making her growl at me. I jumped back and she apologized again.
"You can't leave, the hunter would kill you, plus Cody is the alpha, and you're my mate,"she sighed running her hands through her hair.
"What is that?" I asked letting my hands relax around the lamp.
"Put the lamp down and I'll tell you," she said standing up. Without thinking I swung hitting her in the side of the head. She fell back with and ow and stood back up with the side of her face bleeding. No normal human would be able to get up that fast.
"Sebastian calm down let me talk," she said slowly walking over to me. I held the lamp tighter but took one hand to wipe my face. I came back with blood on my forehead.
"Mackenzie, don't," I said. She looked momentarily hurt that I didn't use her nickname. She walked over to me and put her small hands over the lamp. Slowly I let it go crashing it to the ground.
"A mate is someone you're destined to be with forever," she started quietly while looking down at our hands,"you will feel my pain and I'll feel yours."
"Mack..." I said not understanding.
"Do you know why I went out on the full moon even though I knew I couldn't?" She asked me. I shook my head no,"do you remember your dare?"
"If you didn't come you would have to tell your crush to their face you like them," I whispered more to myself. She nodded.
"I like you Sebastian," she said holding onto my hand. I pulled them back and backed away from her until I hit a wall.
"No, no...get out Mack," I said. She bit her lip nodding and walking out the door. I sighed. How did I get into this. That story was suppose to be a joke to make Cody scared and stay awake all night. I didn't think it was real and I didn't think Mack was one.
Mackenzie's pov
"Get out Mack...get out Mack," his voice echoed over and over in my head. I shouldn't have left the house. I thought I had enough control over the full moon but I didn't especially when I was so close to my mate. Most people my age have control over their wolf on the full moon except for me.
I couldn't understand why they changed into wolves. Only humans with wolf blood in their veins would change but Sebastian and Cody changed.
I walked down the hall almost pulling my blonde hair out my head. How could I? Now my mate hates me and he's going to reject me. I don't have anything left. My father was killed last year. My mom has cancer and is on her death bed. What am I going to do?
"Kenzie," someone called my name. I turned to see the pack doctor, Dr. Woods. He had a sorry look on his face.
"Is she...is she?" I tried. Tears pricked the side of my eyes. I couldn't say the word. Why would anyone want to say the word.
"I'm sorry Kenzie but she's not dead but she's dying. She wants to see you. This is your chance at a goodbye," he said putting his arm around my shoulder and leading me into the hospital section of the pack house.
"Mack," my mom croaked out then coughed. That's what lung cancer does to a woman. My mothers not old. She's only fifty two. She's the only one here that calls me Mack. Everyone at the pack house calls me by my full name or Kenzie.
"Momma," I said getting in the bed beside her. She hugged me and caressed my hair. Every night before bed I would sit in her room and let her brush down my hair and braid it into a french braid then in the morning she would take it out and tell me I look like a princess.
"Don't cry for me baby...mommas always going to be here. You be careful okay. Find your mate and live happily ever after," she said. It made me choke on tears. My mother used to read Cinderella and sleeping beauty to me every night. Beauty and the beast was always my favorite.
"Momma, can you read to me one more time?" I asked holding onto her hand that shook. She smiled at me. Dr. Woods handed me my book and I handed it to her. She cracked open the book.
"Once upon a time, a young Prince lived in a shining castle. One cold night an old beggar woman arrived, offering him a single rose in return for shelter from the cold. Repulsed by her ugliness, he turned her away. Suddenly she transformed into a beautiful enchantress.
To Punish the Prince, she turned him into a hideous beast. Then she gave him a magic mirror and the enchanted rose, telling him it would bloom until his twenty-first year. To break the spell, he must love another and earn that person's love in return before the last petal fell," she started. I closed my eyes listening to my favorite story one more time.
"Nearby, in a small village, a beautiful young woman named Belle hurried through town. She greeted the townspeople and then rushed to her favorite shop - the bookstore. The owner gave her a book as a gift," she started to finish the book. I watched her read the entire time. I would never get tired of my mother reading.
"The Prince drew her close and kissed her.
Then they watched happily as Cogsworth, Lumiere, Chip, Mrs. Potts, and all the other servants once again became human. True love had finally broken the spell, and everyone danced for joy...The end," she whispered. I could feel her hand slowly go limp in mine. Tears ran down my face but I didn't bother stopping them.
Dr. Woods left the room while my mother was reading to me. I got out the bed slowly and positioned her just like sleeping beauty. Instead of a red rose, I put the book in her arms and walked out the door. Wiping the tears from my face.
"Don't cry for me baby...don't cry for me baby," she said. She knew she was dying and she took that time to read me a book and tell me not to cry for her.
I walked to Dr. Woods who was busy wiping his face with a paper towel. My mother was his best friend. She worked with him as a nurse and now she's dead.
He looked up at me. I nodded telling him what he already knew. I bit my lip walking out the room. As soon as I was out the room I broke down crying. On my knees I had my head on the carpet.
I heard my animal like sobs but I didn't try to stop them. I didn't care how I looked. All I knew was my mom was dead. Goodbye Bella Ross. I'll always love you momma.
"Kenzie what happened?" Cam asked coming up behind me and putting her arms around me. She was my only friend here. The alphas daughter, my future Luna, was the only one who understood me.
"She's gone," I said leaning on my hands. The wolf inside of me wanted to scream and run but I wouldn't let her out.
"We'll have her funeral tomorrow okay. Is there anything I can get you?" She asked. I turned around to look at her. Cody was standing beside her. He looked down at his hands. His face and arms had scratches all over them from my hands.
"No...I don't need anything," I said. I could feel my heart already starting to break in pieces. It wouldn't be long before it broke fully.
I heard pounding somewhere near me. At first I thought it was in my head but I saw Cam look around.
"Sebastian," she said shaking her head and waving it off. What was he doing?
"Let me out! What are you doing to me!" He yelled. I could feel his body slump against the door.
"Do you want to let him out?" Cam asked. I nodded. She intertwined her hand in Cody's and asked him. He also nodded. I wish I could be like that with my mate.
She smiled letting go of his hand and unlocking the door. Sebastian looked up at her confused then looked at me. He stopped yelling and held his chest instead. Right above his heart.
He bent down to my level and put his hand under my chin to lift my face to his.
"What happened?" He asked quietly wiping the tears from my face with his thumb.
"Nothing," I murmured sniffling.
"Mack," he said pleading me then looking at Cody and Cam behind him. He looked confused for a second then looked back at me. I guess it's not everyday your kidnapper and your best friend have a relationship.
"My momma just died in my hands," I whispered squeezing my eyes shut. He rubbed my hands over my cheeks then pulled me into a hug.
"I'll talk to my father about the funeral," Cam said sighed and rubbing me on the back one more time before walking down the hall with Cody.
"I'm sorry Mack," Sebastian said pulling me in tighter. The mates bond was already starting to do it's work on him.
"It's okay. I knew this was going to happen. Really I'm fine. She told me not to cry for her and look what I'm doing," I shook my head trying to laugh. He held me tighter, probably thinking I was losing my mind.
"Mack just speak to me," he said. I nodded.
"If you dont like me just say I reject you Mackenzie Ross and you won't have to deal with my anymore," I told him. He was silent for awhile like he was thinking.
"I've always loved Mackenzie Ross. I jsut didn't know what you were. Now that I know it's surprising and will take some time getting used to it but I love you and I've always had a crush on you since I Cody introduced me to you in fifth grade," he said breathing in my hair.
Seven years ago...
"Do you see the new girl?" I heard a boy say near me. I just ignored him shaking my head. Mom told me it would be like this and to just ignore it until I made friends.
"Come on Cod's," the dark haired one said nodding to me. I couldn't help but stare at the sparkle in his dark eyes. What a weird nickname.
"Your names Mack right?" he asked coming up to me. What is up with all of these silly nicknames.
"Actually it's Mackenzie, but you're welcome to call me Mack," I corrected. He nodded.
"This is my friends careful Cody. He's name not actually careful Cod's but you know his parents are boring and yeah," he shrugged. I couldn't help but laugh at his aimless babling.
"What's your name?" I asked cutting him off.
"Sebastian," he said breathing out. The boy he pointed out to be Cody came beside him and frowned at him.
"Well Seb and Cod's nice to meet you," I said smiling. They both frowned at the nicknames. I smiled walking away from them.

I hope you like the story. Sorry about the downer but I hope to make it better after the funeral in the next chapter. I hope you like the beauty and the beast part. It's my favorite disney princess and it stuck with this part of the chapter. Thanks.
