[ five years later ]
"seokjin, how many times do i have to tell you not to leave the door open!"
"he's not here."
kim jisoo groaned for the nth time of the day as she closed the door of their small office. removing her blazer and walking straight to namjoon's table, she let out a tiring sigh.
"you know you could've just let hoseok deliver the berries," namjoon fixed his specs and raised a brow at her.
she scoffed before saying, "he'd end up being friends with everyone he'd meet there before he could even deliver the orders!"
"yah, kim jisoo!" there was a faint noise from the shop's kitchen. "i could hear you!"
"merong!" she stuck her tongue out as if hoseok could see him. namjoon jokingly shook his head as he watched her.
"why are you such a kid?"
"tell that to your girlfriend!" jisoo says before proceeding to the kitchen to grab some drink after her exhausting trip to deliver some fruits.
"i made blueberry iced tea," hoseok immediately says and pointed at the fridge.
"you know i don't like blueberries," jisoo grunted at him, her smile slowly fading.
hoseok only shrugged and ask her how her day went. jisoo's mood quickly changed as she opened the strawberry milk, telling him entertaining stories that happened earlier.
"where's jin by the way?" she asked and looked around, noticing that one of them is missing inside their small fruit dealer office.
"went to the farm. he said your parents asked for him," hoseok answers, opening the box of fruit cake.
"strawberry cake?" he offered.
"jennie would-"
"i heard someone say my name!" both of them flinched at the surprising loud voice coming from the office.
jisoo took a few steps to check on it and there she saw jennie, giving namjoon a kiss on his left cheek before proceeding to the kitchen where jisoo and hoseok were staying.
"strawberry?" she giggled and even took the knife from hoseok.
"why the hell are you here again, young lady?" jisoo crossed her arms and raised a brow at her bestfriend, questioning her why she was at the office again when in fact she usually go there by six in the evening.
"it's still four pm," hoseok noticed and glanced at jennie who scowled at them both.
"what? i missed my boyfriend!"
"jesus, you live in the same house," hoseok mumbled that made jisoo laugh.
"yah, namjoon! your girlfriend says she misses you. aren't you tired enough to hear that?!" jisoo jokingly yelled at her co-worker.
"he'll never get tired of me," jennie stuck her tongue out to tease them both. hoseok just tch-ed loudly and finally ate his strawberry cake, while jisoo fake gagged upon seeing jennie running towards namjoon again.
"i can never see myself being so clingy like that," hoseok continued judging their friends which caused jisoo to laugh at him.
clingy?
how ironic that every small little details still reminds her of him.
it was traumatizing. she was scared that everytime a certain someone passes by in her mind, she unconciously loses what's in front of her.. letting her thoughts dive deep down, from the very beginning where it all started.
"yah, kim jisoo. you're daydreaming again," hoseok pinched her cheeks to wake her back to her senses.
she was about to complain about how painful it was when they suddenly heard another cause of noise pollution inside the office except for jennie.
"hi-ho my good fellas!"
"why are people so early today?" hoseok asks himself while shaking his head, heading towards where the new comer was.
"well hello there, mayor!" they heard jennie greeting their friend. jisoo chuckles at how she was still not used to calling him mayor, even though it was already more than half a year since he won the election.
"oi, share some strawberries! i've got a lot of stressful things to do and i don't want anymore blueberries. yes, i'm looking at you, jung hoseok."
"it's not like liking a blueberry is a bad thing," the latter rolled his eyes but jisoo was fast to scoff at him.
"hobi, it is.."
jennie glanced at her for a second before gradually ignoring it when jisoo smiled at her.
"park jimin," jisoo jokingly scolded the new mayor of nirvana. "you know we have to go somewhere, right?"
"oh, is that why he's early today?" namjoon asks them both that made jisoo nod.
"sorry i can't come," jennie sighed. "just light a candle for me, okay?"
"roger that," jimin saluted but took her cheesecake after. he ran on the other side of the office while jennie whined like a baby.
"jimin!"
"mayor, bring back my girlfriend's cake or i'd burn your office down."
"geez, you're scary," jimin grimaced at him as he defeatedly gave the cake back to the smiling jennie.
"right?" jisoo chuckled. "he sounds like yoong-"
jisoo soon halted after realizing that she was once again mentioning someone from the past. dear heavens, when will she stop?
it's been past five years. she shouldn't be wasting her time reminiscing everything from the past that's now far different from her present.
this is what she have now. she should learn to appreciate it before something.. changes again.
"fine, i'll just eat later after we comeback. let's go?" jimin stood up and went straight to the door, waiting for jisoo who nodded and took her cardigan.
"take care, both of you!" the three reminded them before waving their hands.
jimin opened the car for her and she jokingly closed it without saying anything.
"yah, kim jisoo!" she heard him complain like a kid. rushing towards the driver's seat, jimin's angry eyes were the first thing she met.
"ungrateful! i'm the one who's gonna drive for you!" jimin hisses, placing his other things at the backseat while jisoo was busy fixing her seatbelt.
"excuse me, mister. i was the one who fetch and drove for you last month," jisoo rolled her eyes at him.
"oh, we're fair then," his mod immediately changed and they both chuckled from that.
humming while looking around, jisoo couldn't help but to be thankful for jimin — who saved nirvana.
right after the three of them graduated, jimin, without having any second thoughts, said that he would want to take care of nirvana.
being the son of the late mayor kim's bestfriend, he sure did learn a lot of things in politics.
now he's here, standing and ruling nirvana the way everyone wanted him to.
jisoo and jennie couldn't be any prouder.
"are we the only one who's constantly visiting him every month?" jimin asks her. she looked back at the flowers and candles jimin bought earlier, before she returned her glance at him.
"i doubt that. nirvana would never forget him. we're just dramatic, you know? our visits are every month."
"you think he's proud of us?"
"of course," jisoo gave him a heart warming smile.
there was a quiet air after that. both of them couldn't help but to think of them again.
for the past five years, there were only the three of them left standing. three of them who survived, three of them who didn't broke the promise of not leaving each other.
they were glad to meet seokjin, hoseok and namjoon on their way to reach their dreams. it was as if God knew they needed someone to lean on, and he gave them the other three.
jennie was probably the luckiest of them all. not only she found comfort from their new friends, but also realized her real home. namjoon.
when jennie told them the she loves him, all they did was to hug her. as jennie being a quite emotional softie, they knew how much she suffered when their friends left them. and the only thing that could save her was love. all thank heavens that kim namjoon came and held her hand.
as for jimin, jisoo knows he's just hiding his pain. his anger. everything. but she knew staying beside him was fine with him. no words were needed, no hugs or even comfort foods. just their presence. and it was already enough for jimin.
and her?
all she felt was numbness.
nothing more to feel.
"you go first, i'll bring the flowers and candles," jimin parked the car near the familiar seaside.
she didn't even notice that they were finally at the lighthouse.
looking at the historical place, she realized how much pain the lighthouse had caused her.
every heartache she felt was all from this place.
"don't go around talking to the locals and spend 30 minutes with them," jisoo reminded him and he only nodded, remembering that one time he forgot that jisoo was waiting for him and he ended up talking to some people of nirvana for almost an hour or more.
"fine, fine!"
jisoo hugged herself as she made her way towards the lighthouse, finally spotting the tomb of the late mayor kim.
but then everything in her eyesight completely blurred. the sound of her heartbeat's flatline echoed around her ears, and her breathing nearly stopped.
