College AU. Plot is mine, all similarities are purples coincidental.

There is a diner in the lower part of town. Critics say it has the best burgers in all of America. By America, I mean that state, and by critics I mean a group of college friends who eat there very week.

Sharpay, Gabriella and Troy eat there every Friday. They always get served by the same waiter, some good-looking, curly-haired guy on the basketball team.

"How do you even know he likes boys?" Troy hissed. It was one of those Fridays which they spent in the diner.

"Uh, have you seen him? He is practically radiating a rainbow," Sharpay said.

"Yeah, but how do you know for sure?"

"Ask him," Gabriella said. "Chad!"

Chad rushed over. "Yeah?"

"Are you gay?" Gabriella asked. Troy just about chocked on his milkshake.

Chad chuckled. "Yeah. Yeah I am. Why?"

"No reason," Sharpay said in a way that makes you think there is a reason.

"Okay," Chad says. "Is that it?"

The group of friends nod. He disappears into the kitchen or wherever waiters go when they're not doing anything.

"You know what this means," Sharpay says.

One week later that same group of friends arrive at that same diner, except now they've brought someone along with them.

Ryan Evans, Sharpay's twin brother. Openly gay and openly theatre nerd. Quite partial to hats and other forms of extravagant accessories.

They take a seat at their usual table, three of them not bothering to even look at the menu.

Chad comes over. "Hey, Troy, Gabi, Sharpay and R- New Guy. Hi." He greets.

"Hey," Ryan says, smirking a bit.

A/N: Please help your poor author for she cannot flirt to save her life!!!

"Will it be the usual order?" Chad asks.

"Yep," Troy confirms.

"What do you think is the best?" Ryan asks, glancing up form the menu, still with that stupid smirk on his face.

"The chicken burger is always a favourite of mine."

"I'll have a Greek salad," Ryan says. Chad rolls his eyes but smiles.

They continued like this for most of the evening. Gabriella and Sharpay were giving each other knowing looks, but Troy could tell something was off.

Ninety minutes later, and after convincing Troy to pay, Ryan said he'd  make his own way home.

The other three went home, very proud that they managed to set their friend up. Happy to know that his happiness was caused by them.

Ryan waited outside the diner for another thirty minutes, scrolling through his phone. Suddenly, his phone was snatched from his hands.

"Hey-"

"I've just got to make sure you aren't texting any other guys," Chad Danforth says.

"No, only videos of some really grumpy cats."

"We are never getting  a cat. I'm sorry," he says ignoring Ryan's protests. "Cats are mean."

"You just haven't me t the right cat," Ryan's says, rubbing his hands together.

"Why were you waiting outside," Chad scolds, taking his hands. "It's much warmer inside, plus I could've used someone to talk to."

"I'm sorry, I thought you were working."

"It's fine. Come on, let head home. You're staying with me tonight right?"

"Yep."

They start to walk.

"Can you believe my friends didn't notice?" Ryan asks.

"No. I thought they'd know once I'd almost called you your name at the beginning."

"Yeah, you can't keep a secret can you?"

"I'm sorry! I was just a little surprised. Maybe text me next time." Chad says.

"Do you think they'll ever figure it out?" Ryan asks.

"That we're already dating? Not a chance. They're book smart, not feelings smart."

"We'll tell them sometime. Let them think they got us together."

Chad laughed, smiling at his boyfriend.

"Just something to boost their ego."
