5: The game he wants to play

Marithe and I were hanging out outside with snacks laid out in our table, she was chomping on the food that we ordered at the cafeteria while I told her the latest "news" I just heard about

While we were minding our own business, two girls, probably juniors, came up to our table, they were nudging each other and quietly arguing on who would approach me first.

Since I want to change the rumors that I'm cold and "not-that-friendly" type of person, I smiled at them and decided to initiate the conversation

"Hey" I said while the two of them were shocked that I actually noticed them

"Uhm, hi, my friend and I were going to ask you something, can we?" They shyly asked

"Of course" I responded in a nice, accommodating tone

"Are you going out with Haruto?" One of them asked

The smile I once had, disappeared while I try to hide the pissed off expression that is forming in my face

I thought of how to indirectly respond to that question without simply giving away the answer because I'm not really sure on what's the answer either

"Where did you guys get that information?" I said and chuckled, still trying hard to compose my anger that's ranging inside me

"Someone saw that he walked you to your dorm" the other girl straightforwardly exposed that they're keeping updated about my life

"Haruto and I are good friends" I made an excuse and lied

"Rumors are going around that you two kissed at Jeongwoo's birthday party, is that true?" She further investigated

I glanced at Marithe for a few times but she avoided my gaze, indicating that she doesn't have anything to do with this,

Deep inside I was infuriating with anger but I still managed to give them a friendly smile and said

"If Marithe would kiss me, right here and right now, would you ask me the same thing?"

Both of them kept quiet so I decided to continue on what I wanted and had to say

"It's true, we kissed, but that kiss meant nothing, now go interview another senior and find out about their life or something" I rudely said

The two of them apologized and went off, feeling ashamed and finally realizing what they just did.

Well, maybe I am really not friendly.

"Kids these days are shameless." Marithe said while dipping her fries in some ketchup

"I know Right!" I exclaimed and let out a sigh

"But that Haruto guy is really something, don't you think?" She said and gave me that look that can make me hear her thoughts even though she doesn't say anything

"What the heck" I said and shared some fries with her

"No really, what going on with you two?" She inquired which irritated me even more

"You sound like those Juniors, if you want you can go interview someone else with them" I rolled my eyes at her, making her chuckle

"His aura gives off that playboy type of impression when you first meet him..."

"But he's that type of playboy that wouldn't play with multiple girls, he'll stick to one and play with that particular girl until she gets her to fall for him" she added, making me look at her in disbelief because I feel like that's what he's doing

"And I feel like I'm his next target" I muttered under my breath

I wouldn't expect that she would still hear that but she did, it made her say "WHAT" in a very loud tone that can be heard by the neighboring tables

"Keep it down, the investigators might hear you" I whispered

"Are you being serious, what makes you think that you are his next target?" She whispered back

"He was bugging me the whole morning and even exchanged lockers with the guy that's next to my locker..." I began,

I sighed and scratched my head "and he kept calling me nicknames"

"If that's the case" she said while chewing her fries in between

"The only way here is to love the game, but not the player" she glanced at me and gave me one of those I'm-so-smart looks

I couldn't think of anything to respond to what she said, though it's partially true but I just kept quiet and shrugged it,

The bell rang so we had to gobble up the food that we still have and quickly stand up to go to our classroom

"Go ahead, I have to use the bathroom" Marithe said and went a different way going to the bathroom

I was now absent-mindedly walking alone going to our classroom when someone's long and slender arm was wrapped around my shoulder, making me stop to see who it was.

Ah shit, Haruto.

"Hey" I simply said, trying hard not to punch him in the face

He brought me closer to him, still not removing his arm that was freely resting on my shoulders, he even snaked it going down to my waist but I completely didn't notice that because what caught my attention was the fact that he was crowded by girls.

"Why don't you ask her?" He said, talking to the girls who was in front of him

I immediately knew what this was so I just went with the flow and plastered a smile

"Ask me what?" I said, holding his hand that landed on my waist, mainly to make sure it doesn't go somewhere else and also, to make things more realistic for the two of us.

"They were asking my plans for tonight, babe" he turned to me and winked

I knew it.

I saw the shocked expression on the faces of the girls and how they looked intimidated

Of course, this is Rhane Park in front of them.

"Nevermind, we'll be going now" one of them said and went on their way.

I expected Haruto to let go of me but he didn't so I subtly elbowed his tummy and whispered "You can let go now" while he grunted

I didn't elbow him THAT hard why is he so over reacting

"Thanks alot by the way" he suddenly smiled which caught me off guard, making my face heat up and blush

"I only helped you because I had no choice" I pretended to have an annoyed expression

"See you later baby~" he teased

"I am NOT your baby" I snapped and turned around to continue walking to my class

Ugh he thinks he's irresistible.

Well, fine, I'll play the game he wants to play.

And I'll make sure he loses his own game.

Congrats, Haruto, you just challenged Rhane Park to the game of charms.
