You woke up to a loud banging on Spencer's apartment door, which echoed through the entirety of the apartment. Spencer's bedroom door was still open, so the sound traveled into the bedroom as well.

The two of you had fallen asleep on top of each other a few episodes in – meaning, hours later – with the almost empty popcorn bowl between you.

The two of you stirred awake as the banging continued. "Jesus Christ who is that?" You grumbled into Spencer's shirt. "I have no idea." Spencer responded. Despite the situation, his morning voice never failed to fill you with butterflies.

Spencer threw on one of his big sweatshirts and creeped out of the bedroom and to the front door while you refuse to get out of bed. There was no voice that accompanied the banging, but it sounded like a fist. Spencer groggily made his way to the door, checking the peephole before opening. His eyes widened as he quickly ran to grab the clothes from last night that were strewn across the couch and the floor, tossing them into the bedroom.

When his button up and your bra hit your body that remained resting on the bed, you popped up in bed.

Spencer sprinted back to the door, opening it up to familiar voices yelling "Surprise!" You heard this, jolting out of bed to peek out of the bedroom. You noticed Garcia, who was holding a big bunch of balloons, all with different birthday messages on them, give Spencer a big bear hug. Morgan hugged Spencer, patting him on the back, and Emily soon followed.

Thank god the hood of Spencer's sweatshirt was bulky, covering the hickeys on his neck, so the two profilers and Garcia – who's, well, Garcia – didn't notice. Spencer nervously laughed along with them and let them into his apartment.

"Did you open your presents yet?" Emily asked, looking around and seeing no wrapping paper discarded or boxes cut open.
"Oh, uh, I think Y/N and I were so tired last night, we just kinda forgot to bring them up."

The three friends shared a look before turning back to Spencer. "Y/N's here?"
"Shit" Spencer thought. He'd trapped himself.

You figured it was time to make your grand appearance. So, you dug through Spencer's closet, and threw on the first sweatshirt you could find – Spencer's favorite Caltech hoodie which he's let you wear multiple times – in hopes that it would cover your own hickeys.

"Yeah, I mean, Spencer and I sleep over at each other's places all the time." Everyone's eyes turned to you as you exited the bedroom. "Yeah it's not uncommon." Spencer defensively added.

You gave him a look that sarcastically said, "nice one," Spencer internally face-palming himself.

"O...kay...?" Morgan said more as a question. On any normal day he'd bug Spencer about the defensiveness, but given it was his birthday he'd give him a break.

Garcia finally broke the awkward silence by clapping her hands together. "Well, Chocolate Thunder, here, and I can run down to your car and get your gifts, we'll bring them right back up!"
"You want some help?" Emily asked, but Garcia had already started out the door and down the stairs with Morgan following close behind her.

You, Spencer, and Emily sat in an uncomfortable silence for about ten minutes, the only words spoken being Spencer asking if anyone wanted some coffee. Emily nodded in hopes of making Spencer fill the time. You denied only because you knew where you wanted to take him today.

Finally, Garcia and Morgan reentered the apartment, Garcia holding onto a box that fell right in between medium and small balancing on top of a bigger box, and a big gift bag with heaps of multicolored tissue paper. Beside her, Morgan balanced two quite long, heavy boxes with a smaller heavy box on top. Atop the smaller box was an even smaller one, but still on the more medium side. As strong as Morgan was, he walked slowly, making extra sure the ones on top didn't fall. Whatever was in those ones was definitely going to break if they did eventually crash to the ground.
