Spencer laid on his back, his head mindlessly turning toward your direction to rest. You were facing him from some space away in fetus position, already tight asleep.

This is where you were most comfortable. In your new apartment, in your new bed with a cozy comforter and pillows, with Spencer laying by your side.

Wait.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Your body jolted awake to the blaring sound of your alarm which you'd set as Lakeshore Drive by Alliotta, Haynes, Jeremiah.

Your eyes shot open when you felt a hand stirring on your back, something you've never, in your entire life, woken up to. You looked up to see Spencer slowly letting himself wake up. You realized you were still on your side in fetus position, but you had now snuggled up against his warm body. His left arm was draped over your upper back, his head still turned in your direction. Spencer's eyes fluttered open when he felt a weight over his left arm. He opened his eyes to see you leaning back a bit to grab your phone that had fallen out of your back pocket onto the bed space behind you and turning off the alarm.

The two of you paused at your situation, staring at the minimal space in between your bodies.

"Uh, sorry, I-uh tend to move a lot in my sleep, and I... guess you were my... border...?" Spencer blushed at the sound of your morning voice. It was a naturally softer, more hushed version of your regular talking voice, but not like you were whispering. It was like you were relaxed. It was an audible representation of those few moments in the morning where you can forget everything for just a few milliseconds.

"No, uh, It's fine, don't worry." Spencer's warm smile mixed with his morning voice caused those same butterflies you'd felt on the jet last night to begin to softly whirl around within you again.

You grunted and lifted yourself up and out of your poorly made bed. You looked around and took in the emptiness of the room filled to the brim with the sunrise pouring through the lengthy windows covering your wall. This is exactly how you wanted to wake up every morning. The apartment was made even cozier by the presence of Spencer. As you basked in the sunrise, you heard Spencer ask, "You set an alarm for 7:00 am?" It's a ten minute drive and you didn't have to be in until 8:30, so it made sense why Spencer would be confused.

Great, you just woke up the genius for no reason.

"Oh sorry! I guess I forgot to change my alarm. I usually took a shower and stopped for breakfast, but–uh, you can just go back to sleep?" You felt so guilty and you didn't want to keep Spencer up for no reason. He looked like he desperately needed sleep. The two of you had only been asleep for about six and a half hours, but by the looks of it, it seemed that was the most Spencer had slept in ages. You didn't know someone could have even darker circles than you under their eyes.
