A/N: you obviously aren't obligated to, but the lyrics to the chorus of the second song are kind of symbolic in this story, so I strongly recommend reading them. Also, a 'fall' is the thing that covers the keys on a piano.

"...Spencer, it's okay you can just go home or chill here until I wake up or something? I shouldn't be out for too long." You watched as Spencer pondered for a little bit.

Your eyelids grew so heavy you couldn't keep them open for one second longer to hear Spencer's response. You fluttered your eyes shut, and the second you did, you were out like a light.

You woke up to the dismaying view of darkness outside your window. The only lights beaming through were those of the city and the moon. You couldn't help but feel your heart become crestfallen at the fact that you'd missed an entire day with Spencer after half a week of being completely distant.

As you slowly regained full sight, you looked down to see the rest of your body draped in the blanket that was originally sitting on the chair in the corner of your room. The thought that Spencer had probably put that there nurtured your heavy heart.

You slowly sat up out of your bed, rubbing your aching forehead with your forefinger and your thumb. Today had been a whole rollercoaster, and you were only conscious for a small portion of it. You noticed your glasses were no longer fixed to the bridge of your nose. In reaching for them, you noticed two Advil gel pills on a napkin next to a small glass of water. "I guess Spencer found the medicine cabinet." You thought to yourself as you put your glasses back on and washed each pill down with water one by one. Adjusting your sight, you also noticed a note that sat next to the glass that read,

I left your donut in the bag (it's on your kitchen counter), but your coffee was almost done and quite cold, so I had to throw it out. Maybe we can finish that coffee another time, preferably when you don't pass out.

~ Spencer :)

Your stomach fluttered with butterflies at his chicken scratched note that held all the tenderness you'd ever been given. Not even your parents had written you a note that sweet – let alone, a note at all – when you were just a kid going to your first day of preschool. You didn't even see them that day, one of your nannies brought you and picked you up. The little smiley face at the end added to this magical power that Spencer Reid held over you. You were upset with yourself for letting even a few days slip away from the two of you. Sure, you'd talked to Emily a bit more in that time, becoming a little closer with her, but you missed him.

Speaking of Emily...

A quiet fit of laughter jolted you back into reality. You figured from the note Spencer left that he'd vanished for the day, but boy were you far from the truth. The chatter grew louder as you tiptoed toward the door, slowly creaking it open, and walking down the hallway that housed your bedroom and bathroom.
