Kaneki's PoV:

I look into Hide's eyes with a nervous expression, I can feel the tension growing...

Hide holds my hands up as he stared at my nails "Hmm... not nail varnish... what happened to you?" He asked as he made eye contact with me.

I took a deep breath and lowered my head "I don't want to go into detail... but I suppose I'll just leave it at he tortured me..."

Hide lifts my chin up. He had a frown on his face. I hate it when he frowns. "Kaneki... you know you can tell me right?" He asked.

I pull my hands away from him "I don't want to talk about it... you'll only get upset and you'll blame yourself for what happened so forget it..."

Hide's PoV:

I could tell that Kaneki was worried. Worried about how I might react when he tells me. I know he can probably read my emotions by now too, I normally say things will be alright... but honestly if he told me what happened I would blame myself. But that's only because I promised to be there for him, and I wasn't. I'm aware that it's impossible to always be beside him, especially when he pushes me away, but I know it's only because he's scared.

I step closer to Kaneki and wrap my arms around him, holding him closely to my body as I rub his back and start to sway. I can feel that he's letting himself relax. I can feel him gripping onto me. "I know what you went through is tough... but if you try to hide away from me then you'll only get worse, so let me help you."

Kaneki's head lifted from my shoulder and now we were looking into each other's eyes once again "I'll try to..." he said, then kissing my cheek and holding my hands "but it's best we just move on from what happened, I don't want to focus on any of that." He then picks me up and draped me over his shoulder "lets go home".
