27. End of Sport's Festival

Start from the beginning

The beakman boss nodded. Atop his desk lays an envelope. He scooped it from his gloved hand and waved it. "You're under my guidance from now on, Ackerman Y/n. Under my name, you'll be in the protection of the Kai family and not Shie Hessaikai." He told her the news. She didn't move a muscle and kept a straight face not showing a slight emotion to see what's on her mind. "If you're curious how I won, I'd say it's nothing special but connection."

"Yes, I understand." The girl replied. Of course there's nothing special about connections between big people. Y/n always thought that she had special treatment because her name is evidently connected to the one and only Levi Ackerman.

"Until you're eighteen while under my custody, feel free to do what you want. I don't care as long as you keep the end of the deal."

"Of course. I'm nothing but grateful for your hospitality." She gave a bow to him. Something she learned during her stay in that world. Standing back up, her face change to wonder. "Does that mean you're technically my father now?" She asked.

(Preparing char development and shits.... loadiiinggg....)

Chrono choked while Overhaul hissed a chuckle. "Is that what you want?" He asked back shocking the former even more.

"No. I'll pass, forgive me for asking." The girl replied just as quick. Her father's still alive. Why would she replace him with another criminal?

"Think of me whichever you want." Overhaul added.

"Thank you." She said, putting a hand on her chin in thoughts of what he said. If she can do whatever she wants it only means that she has more freedom than she usually had. That makes things easier.

"Eri's in your room. You can go see her if you've nothing to say."

The girl blinked, turning to her new guardian and nodded. "Then I shall excuse myself." She walked out of the room quietly, leaving the two in the office.

Y/n made her way towards the empty wide hallway painted in white. Her eyes focused straight on the path of different doors.

Sighing, the girl stopped on the door of her room and opened it only to be met with two small hands that came to embrace her waist. She turned her head down to see the young female, finding a teary eyed Eri looking up at her with soft adoring eyes.

Y/n smiled at her. "How did I do?" She asked.

"You were so strong." The girl murmured. "But not strong enough to beat him." The second one was a bit of whisper. But Y/n caught wind of the words, caressing the child's head, lifting the child up in her arms carefully.

"I see."

Eri embraced the ex-soldier's shoulders, leaning her little chubby cheek onto her. "Will I be as strong as you someday."

Y/n hummed weakly, entering the door and closing it. Breathing in to hide a look of displeasure and pity on Eri's question. Looking at those bandages and small figure. A child who seemed small for her age and succumbed to fear. She couldn't help but feel a certain familiarity...

Familiarity?

The girlu blink twice. What familiarity? She's never been in this situation before. It made her ponder how she's relating Eri and her childhood life was to be slightly similar. Because Y/n grew up with her family. Raised with guidance and she was never mistreated...

Again with the word mistreated...

The former soldier was shocked to think she's ever been mistreated.

But shaking all those thoughts, Y/n put little Eri down on the bed before removing her uniform blazer that was belted around her waist. Placing the uniform carefully in the hanger and placed it inside her set of organized hanged clothes in the wardrobe.

She then removed her bag slung behind her, placing it on the swivel chair of her study table and opened to look for the contents, taking up a pack of chocolate bar and handing it to the girl. "Eat for a while, I'm going to change and we'll spend our time together." She told her.

Eri smiled, nodding to reassure her and Y/n went to the bathroom.

When Y/n came back in her fresh white shirt and black sweatpants, she sat on the bed crossing her legs while Eri was messily eating the sweets.

The girl smiled, took out some wipes(which she found convenient one day during her meal) and wiped the girl's chocolate filled mouth.

"Big sis, where are you from?" Eri suddenly asks.

Y/n took a moment of silence. "I came from a really really far away place." She told her.

"Do you have family?"

"Yes. Why do you ask?"

"Can big sis tell me about them?" The awkward child shyly asked.

Y/n inhaled deeply. Lay on the bed with her arms as pillows behind her. "Well... I have a really strong but cleanfreak brother and a really odd but clever father." She started. "I have another kind second older brother and a happy-go-lucky and selfless older sister." But they sadly passed away... Y/n wanted to add but decided not to.

She hummed in agreement to her description. Eri watched her with big wide eyes.

"When I was a kid, I was already living with my big brother Levi. Which is why... everything must be tidy. If he see a speck of dirt, he'd talk it out on me the entire day and kept telling me that only rats live in a dirty place. That I'll have my weakass get different kind of sickness if I don't maintain the house clean. He goes round about why everything must be tidy. Can you believe him?" Y/n rolled her eyes. "But to be honest, he's right. I don't want to live in a pigsty so I keep everything as clean as possible now as long as I don't see dirt, it's considered clean." She shrugged.

Eri unconsciously looked around. The white room was so clean she couldn't help but agree with Y/n. She took another bite from the chocolate bar. "Big sis has an amazing brother." She said.

Y/n nodded. "Indeed I have one." But I'll never see him again... she thought. "My brother was the one who named me." She said softly.

When Kenny gave her to Levi to take care of, Y/n didn't know if Kenny ever gave her a name because he never really called her any name before. So in the end, Levi thought up of a name.

Y/n.

A name for her...

Y/n sadly smiled for that thoughtful old man.

To leave him in confusion and questions unanswered. She felt guilty. Hopefully he's still alive up until now.
