The Ethereals' Goal - Part II

      - Ethereal HQ: Meeting Room -

- Suspicion (Persona 5)

-The room is not as big as you think it would be. The floors are a smooth texture with a hint of gray, the walls are the same color only much thicker, like it's soundproof. There's also a large light, that shines a dim gray luminescence throughout the entire room. In the middle of the room is a long, gray table with multiple wheeled chairs filling the empty gaps-

-Preceding the table, on the north side of the room is a large back wall, which is specifically wider than all the others in the room. Vern walks to the front of the table and grabs a small remote that was sitting on the edge. He points the remote at the widest wall, and presses a button on it. A holographic picture showing a massive explosion shows up immediately after the button is pressed, and Vern motions for the trio to sit down-

Vern:
Asseyez-vous, s'il vous plait.

-Lux sits in a chair on the left side of the table, a short distance away from where Vern is standing, Jade sits in a chair on the right side of the table, which is the last seat on the edge directly in front of Vern, and Klaus sits in the chair directly next to Lux. Lux leans back in his chair and puts his legs on the table, and Klaus leans into the surface, comfortably extending his arms before he begins to sway them back and forth-

Klaus:
This is a table.

Lux:
Nah, that's a chair.

Klaus:
You're lying. You're a fucking liar.

-Jade crosses her legs along with her arms, then leans back slightly in her chair. Vern nods lightly once everyone is settled, then speaks. As he does, he presses a button every so often to change what is seen on the holographic screen-

Vern:
Let's begin. You all know what this is. This is Annihilation. On this day, millions died due to the energy wave emitted from the meteorite that crashed into the Som Ocean. It was also the day that we were reborn and granted unique, individual gifts from that energy wave. These beings were soon called Abnormals. Not long after Annihilation, all three continental governments came together to form a powerful military force. We all of course, refer to them as the AAF, or the Anti-Abnormal Federation. These are our enemies, but they are not the only ones we should worry about.

-The screen changes to an image of a hideous red humanoid creature-

Vern:
You know what these are, yes?

Jade:
Blightshades.

Vern:
Correct. Humans that were unfortunately mutated and transformed because their bodies could not deal with Somerite energy. A worse fate than dying in my opinion. Not only are the AAF using these creatures as a way of blame towards us, but they themselves have grown much smarter, more human like. We cannot underestimate them or the AAF. Now onto the overall goal, and the reason why I hired you all. I have built this resistance from the ground up for years. We are very lucky to have found this place so that we may operate in the shadows. For years, I have seen how we are treated, how the media wants us to seem. All the injustices, the prejudice, it will end. We are seen as nothing but scum. If not scum, then dangerous creatures that need to be caged. This is why I formed the Ethereals. Though we may not be able to bring every Abnormal here, we will surely fight for them. The time of hiding is over.

-The screen changes. It shows individual pictures of a tall, pale skinned man wearing a dark blue uniform with a long, unbuttoned black coat. The man has dark blue hair of considerable length, with a thin mustache and beard, light blue eyes, and a rough and wrinkled face of pure determination-
