**In memory of all those who were killed in the Connecticut elementary shooting. Dedicated to those who lost loved ones. 12-14-12.**
No hearts left to break.
A hard, tough world has guarded it,
Turned it into a machine
That doesn’t feel.
It just pumps the blood.
Tired of being hurt over and over
By tragedies hundreds of miles away.
It isn’t fair.
People say the end is coming.
How much more of this can the world take?
The innocent dying every day by the thousands.
And for what?
He is a different color.
Her religion is different.
He doesn’t like her shoes.
She gave him a failing grade even though he did deserve it.
He left her with strangers because he couldn’t raise her.
She woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
Senseless things that put the world
In a heartache.
Simultaneous.
A unison that will toughen already tough hearts.
Make skin metal:
Unbreakable.
Disappear hearts:
Unreachable.
Keep fading eyes on the skies.
The faith is wavering
Yet something holds on.
Blow the flame,
Make it burn.
Faith that will frighten the tragedy,
Scare it away forever.
Peace must begin somewhere.
