“ Erm... Sir, are you okay?”, her voice shook a bit. Well, you can’t blame her. Kent had an intimidating aura over his workers. He was not in a healthy comeradie relationship with anyone.
She was actually surprised how Mr. Miller was still alive when all he did was go around giving orders to Kent Arrogant Stevens.
Kent had an urge to snap at her but he knew this won’t help. Stacy is usually the one who is victimized by Kent when he is not in a good mood, which happened quite often. And then all day, she has her mind switched off and a downer face. This ticked him in the nerves. So instead he took a deep breath and focused on the present minutes instead of those ugly minutes from yesterday.
“ What is this meeting about? Do we have any of our Clients visiting us today?”, he asked ignoring her question.
She looked at him for a second or two noticing that the gaze was a normal one and not a I-want-to-kill-you one.
“ No Sir, we don’t have any visits today. Mr. Miller kept the cause of the meeting to himself. He was very cryptic about it. He just asked me to call all the Directors today to attend it.”
This surprised Kent a bit. What is going on in that oldie’s mind? “ When did he ask you to do that?” he continued his question stepping out of the lift and walking towards his room.
There was a long hallway with a small waiting area and a receptionist at the corner of the room. Another skinny girl in a pencil suit. Candice was more of a watch man as its her who the visitors have to pass before going into Mr. Kent Stevens’ room.
She stood up a little stunned to see him striding down the long hall. Her eyes turned to Stacy who was speed walking behind him. She stammered a ‘ Good Morning’ out of her nervousness. She was not prepared for his visit. The staff usually gets time to prepare themselves to get through a day working under Kent. And they were all hoping he’d take a day off.
Kent didn’t bother replying to her. Hell, he didn’t even look at her before storming into his office.
“ He called me last night Sir. And asked me to arrange everything by today’s meeting time.”, Stacy replied when the office door closed behind them and it was safe to talk about it. Kent just nodded as he walked past his huge glass desk and sat on his comfy seat. He looked at his watch and looked at his assistant again.
“ Okay Ms. Waltz, you can take your leave.” She nodded and had just turned around before Kent stopped her again. “ And make sure you ask Candice to not let anyone come inside and disturb me for the next 21 minutes. I want to be left alone for a while.”
Stacy dared to look at Kent for a second or two again. She won’t deny she was worried about him. When she was told about the accident, she herself was surprised how scared to death she was for this cold man who doesn’t care about anyone. She had ran straight up to the hospital where he was taken. She could only breath a sigh of relief when she saw him in his ward. After all he was her boss and if it was not for him, her family won’t have survived their economic distress. She knew Kent appointed her as his assisstant pitying over his father’s condition who got a paralytic attack last year and had to leave his job in the Stevens Industries. But what so ever it was, it proved that no matter how blank he kept himself to others, there were still a few emotions he could perceive.
She nodded,” Sure Sir.” And turned around to leave him alone.
Kent noticed Stacy zoning out for a few seconds before leaving the room. He decided to ignore that because something else has started bothering him since the minute he had stepped in his office. The huge glass wall just behind his desk had its shields all open. Bright sunlight was entering the room and disturbing his eyes. He pressed a button at the side of his table and drew all the shields to a close. He gritted his teeth. That stupid brain dead girl! He had an urge to fire her right that moment. She knew how much he hated this natural sunlight coming into his office. He just didn’t like it and had asked her to make sure the shields are always close. But if he would do as his instincts wanted then he would be firing 5 of his staff members every day.
