Chapter 31: Without Shanna

Start from the beginning

Now all they had to do was wait. Law crossed his arms in front of his chest, tapping his right index finger over his left arm impatiently. As expected, his comrades didn't keep him waiting. A ghost of a smirk crept to his lips when he heard screams echo from the city below. Those brainless pirates were now breaking out into a battle royale, destroying anything and everything around them as they beat each other to the death.

"Time to go," Law stood on the edge of the tower. "Remember the plan."

"Only alive right?" Penguin grinned.

"Shambles."

Law and his crew appeared in the midst of all the chaos, and the moment he arrived people started flying his way. Law smirked, knowing it was the work of his friends. "Scalpel." With each person thrown at him, he'd pop out their heart, and Penguin was then responsible for catching them in a big potato sack.

The civilians ran for their lives as buildings were destroyed and set on fire while weapons were thrown around. The Heart Pirates didn't really give a damn about the innocent people, but they were careful not to harm any of them. Law personally couldn't care less if a few innocent people got killed during this chaos, but there was always a familiar voice inside his head that begged him to help them. The marines were there to save innocent from getting caught in the crossfire, but Law did reach a hand out a few times to stop deadly weapons from hurting the civilians trying to get away from the fight scene.

While Law was busy popping the hearts out of all the pirates thrown his way, a lock of red caught his attention from the corner of his eyes. He turned his head, and he saw it, the long, wavy red hair. He didn't think twice before chasing after the owner of the red locks, for he only knew one person who had hair like that. "Shanna!" He caught up with the girl in a cute pink dress running away with the rest of the crowd, but when he turned her around, he was faced with a pair of caramel colored orbs instead of those beautiful ocean blues. It's not Shanna.

The girl screamed as she swatted Law's hand away, and turned around to run for her life. Law covered his eyes with his hand as he chuckled to himself in defeat. What was he thinking? How could Shanna be in a place like this? Also she wouldn't be wearing a frilly pink dress. He must be going crazy.

No, he had already gone crazy. Everywhere he went he could see her shadows, hear her voice. There were countless times while he was just walking around he'd hear her voice calling his name, saying, "Law! Look at this! Isn't this cool?!" He'd turn around immediately, but she wasn't there. Eleven years.... Eleven years was almost half his age, meaning he spent almost half of his entire life with her by his side. At some point having her around was like breathing oxygen, just natural to him.

Shanna.... Where are you...?

"Captain help! We can't hold them down for long!" Shachi's voice snapped Law back to reality. He turned around to see his crew fighting in the crowd. Pirates kicking around, waving their swords, yelling curse words at each other as they ripped each other's throats out. If Shanna were here, she'd have so much fun.

But she's not here.

"Coming!" Law could never push the red haired girl to the back of his mind, but for now he had to focus on the fight.

One hundred beating hearts of the pirates who went wild at Rocky Port was all it took for Trafalgar Law, Surgeon of Death, to become one of the Seven Warlords. The news was published on the newspaper, and spread all over the world. Law waited at Sabaody for days. Others thought the Heart Pirates were just taking their time, but only the Heart Pirates themselves knew that their captain was waiting for a certain redhead. He hoped that when she saw his news she'd come find him, that she wasn't mad at him anymore...
