BEA
Gumising ako kinabukasan at tumunog ang phone ko. Napatayo ako sa kama after finding out it's almost 6 o' clock. Tinext ako nina Gizelle para sabihing sumunod na lang dahil mahimbing daw tulog namin para gisingin. Dumako ang aking mata sa higaan ni Jia at natutulog parin siya. I was thinking whether or not I should wake her up, naiilang at nahihiya ako. Hindi ko rin makalimutan yung awkwardness kagabi nung nag-dinner kaming apat, buti na lang nagsasalita si Mich kasi ang tahimik nila ni Jho nung time. But then it's training and we're deadly late! I scratched the back of my head and walked slowly to her side to wake her up. This is the closest I got to her again and I should say that she's really beautiful. I wanted to touch her face but I can't, maybe she'll get mad. I moved myself closer and whispered instead. After a few tries, she finally woke up and our eyes caught one another. Bigla siyang bumangon at muntik pa akong mauntog sa noo, sobrang nataranta siya matapos matignan ang oras.
"My alarm didn't go off!" She slapped her forehead then started running back and fort from the closet to get her things before entering the bathroom. I secretly smiled on top of her nervousness, ganyan siya pag na-late kami but she'll be the one to wake me up dahil batugan ako.
"Oh! You're still here?" I couldn't speak up at that moment when she got out. I just nodded and she took a deep breath, "Your turn." She pointed out to the bathroom and all I can do was nod. This is the first time after several days that she asked and spoke to me as if nothing happened. I'm not sure of what's her initiative and I took it as a 'roommate gesture'.
I was expecting that she'll be gone when I went out but I saw her sitting down on the bed with her bag on its side. She looked up and said, "Sabay na lang tayo." I wanted to decline her offer but I cannot say 'no'. I don't know what's happening and it's so weird to hear Jia Morado asking me to go with her to the BEG. I just nodded and finished packing the rest of my stuff before we went out.
In her car, everything is silent. Okay, we would exchange glances but that's it. Surely both of us wants to speak but our mouth has this imaginary tape that we ended up looking at each other for some reasons. I became curious about her recent actions all of a sudden, is she going back to the Jia I knew before? I hate to assume yet I want to know. I don't see this as an all-show because Jia isn't like that, it looks way out of her personality. When I finally had the courage to ask, it was the time we reached the Gym. From there, it all went down again... I said to myself that I will try again later. So, we went out of the car and I followed her lead. We got in and everyone was looking at us but Jho ran and called my attention, leaving Jia with the rest.
"I was texting you! But nevermind." Jho said as she sat down with me. I checked my phone and received a bunch of missed calls and texts coming from her. I showed her my 'sorry' face and she pinched my cheek, "It's all good. Let's train na!" She pulled me from the bench and we went to the court.
From the corner of my eye, I see Jia looking at our way and she was not smiling nor frowning. It was a straight face with no emotions. Later on, I saw Mich looking at her as if she understands what Jia means. I returned my focus on the game and did not mind the rest. As we went through, I noticed Jho was somehow looking elsewhere from time to time. Jia also did the same. I turned perplexed with what they're doing in the middle of our training. Until our training ended, nagpapalitan sila ng tinginang hindi ko maintindihan. And when I finished showering, Jia went near and asked me if we could talk outside. I looked at Jho and she didn't say anything so I assumed that it's alright. I accepted and this weird feeling comes along, scaring the soul out of me.
Even the wind gives me chills, while I face Jia whom I'm waiting to speak, "I'm sorry." She slightly looked down. I ran out of words to say, hindi ko alam kung bakit siya pa yung hihingi ng tawad gayung ako ang may kasalanan. Hinawakan niya ang aking kamay at sinabing, "Can we be friends? Again?" The usual, bestfriendzoned ako. But it's okay, I smiled because we're okay again. Isang 'sorry' lang ni Jia at tiklop nanaman ako, she still has this effect on me na 'di ko kayang mawala. I held her hand tight and she moved close for a hug.
"I'm sorry, sana nag-isip ako ng mabuti." Sabi ko at tumingala siya sa akin, "Tapos na 'yon, let's start anew." She buried her face on to my chest and I can feel her hug's getting tighter. Mahal ko parin siya pero hanggang dun na lang 'yon, I must learn how to revert this feelings back to being friends. Kaya ko naman 'yon gawin, oras lang ang kailangan. Atleast, maayos na ulit kami, hindi totally pero aasahan kong babalik din ang lahat sa dati.
Kumalas siya sa yakap at nginitian ako, "Sige na, Jho might be waiting for you inside." I refused to leave, hinawakan ko pa ang kamay niya ulit tapos sabay kaming bumalik sa loob. And Jho was waiting nang humigpit ang hawak ni Jia sa akin. What's going on? Tapos dahan dahan niya akong binitawan, "I'll catch up with you later." Wala akong nagawa at tuluyang lumakad ito palabas kasama si Mich.
"Ma-late ka pa sa class niyo, tara na." I said and pulled Jho as we walked our way out of the Gym. Wala pala akong dalang kotse but Jho guided me to another way and she has her keys on hand. Natawa na lang ako at ngumiti siya, "Sorry." I apologized and she just nodded. Papasok na siya sa driver's seat when I volunteered for me to drive, hindi naman siya tumanggi at nagpalit kami ng pwesto.
I went out of my first class and Jia was waiting for me outside, with Jho? But I didn't think she was with her kasi malayo ang tinayuan ng dalawa. They both approached me and I smiled, baka sabay kaming tatlo kakain but I was wrong. Jho was suggesting for us to eat outside the campus while Jia told me it's better if we stay inside. Between their talking, the two were exchanging glances. Ano kayang trip nito? I got confused dahil iba iba ang sinasabi nila.
"Isa isa lang, pwede?" I said out of confusion, nanahimik naman sila at tumingin sa akin, "Okay, saan kakain?" I asked and the two fell silent.
Jho spoke, "Let's eat at Roku na lang! Masarap ang food dun."
Jia interrupts, "Hindi masarap dun. Bea, sa Sambo na lang if you want." I completely became confused. Masarap naman ang pagkain doon ah? But I decided to remain quiet.
"KFC na lang, favorite ni Bea ang Chicken." Jho said and even held my arm, I smiled kasi totoo kaso kinabahan ako sa ginagawa nitong dalawa, "So, KFC?" She wasn't looking at Jia who sighed.
Tatango na sana ako nung magsalita nanaman si Jia, "JSEC na lang, tutal we wasted almost 10 minutes arguing where to eat. Right, Bei?" Tapos hinila niya braso ko kaya muntikang mabitawan ni Jho. May 50 minutes pa naman. Hindi ako makagalaw dahil nakahawak sila sa dalawa kong braso.
I pulled myself away at tinanong na sila, "What exactly are you girls doing?" Hindi sila sumagot. I gasped, "JSEC." 45 minutes na lang ang natitira and I am damn hungry kaya gusto ko na kumain. Ngumiti naman si Jia at tinaasan ng kilay si Jho, yung isa naman ay inirapan lang siya. Nalilito ako sa kanila, what the heck are they up to? Tsaka hindi maganda yung nakita ko, parang may nangyayaring hindi ko alam. But I'm too hungry to dwell on that.
Pumunta nga kami ng JSEC, we ordered our food and found a free table. Jia and Jho's attention were on me, pareho silang nagkekwento at hindi ko alam ang sasabihin kaya umu-oo lang ako sa kanila. Everytime Jho's going to say something ay sisingit din si Jia kaya walang natatapos ang dalawa sa sasabihin. May mga tumitingin na sa amin kaya I asked them to keep that aside and eat.
"Bei, can you get me some water?" Jho asked and I obliged. I was about to stand up when Jia pulled me to sit down again.
"May paa ka, bumili ka dun." Jia said at tuluyang tumayo si Jho. Ngumiti siya sa akin pero seryoso lang ng mukha ko, "Bakit? Totoo naman."
I smirked, "Magkaaway ba kayo? Kanina pa 'yan."
"No, I was just telling the truth. Hindi ako papayag na gawin ka niyang alipin."
Bumalik din si Jho. I looked at my watch and it's almost 11, "May pasok na ako, san kayo?"
"Same building tayo, right? Sabayan na kita." Jho said.
"Ako rin, Bei. Same floor din tayo." Jia stands up and grabs my hand kaya napatingin ako, "Tara? Ma-late pa tayo."
Maglalakad na kami nang hawakan ni Jho ang kamay ko, "Ako na sasabay sa kanya." Magsasalita pa sana ako pero mabilis siyang lumakad at halos makaladkad ako. I wanted to ask her about that but she interrupted me, "Text me later, okay?"
"Sure." I said and smiled. Naiwan namin si Jia doon, don't know what she did after but I know she's furious. Kanina ko pa nahalata yun sa kanya, not sure of the reason though. Pansamatalang nawala sa isip ko si Jia dahil andito si Jho, sinamahan niya ako hanggang sa tapat ng room. She kissed my cheek before entering her class next-door, I was left standing on my feet, staring at her.
