My Horse Girl

A New Life

We just arrived in Texas yesterday, it's so different from Maryland. I miss all of my friends back home, but right now dad is driving me to the local ranch! Its only a 10 minute drive from our house, what are the chances! 

The ranch looks old, but I think they're refurbishing it. I can't wait to meet all the horses, and the people of course, but to be honest, I'm more into the horses. 

Oh my god, wait! There's the owner!

"Hi!" 

I'm so excited to meet her!

"I'm Kylie! I just moved here from Maryland yesterday. This is so exciting, I can't wait to meet everyone!" 

Deep breaths Kylie. Take it slow. You don't want to scare her.

"Good morning Kylie! It's so nice to meet you. I'm Paulette; the owner of this ranch" "Here, come inside and I'll give you a tour!"

I'm just now realising how hot Texas can get. It's mid afternoon and we're halfway through the tour. The main house was incredible, I can't wait spend time in there chatting with Paulette and the other girls at the ranch. Speaking of other girls, I haven't seen anyone else here today... weird.

"Hey Paulette? Where are all the horse girls?"

"Oh yes! You haven't met anyone else here yet. Today was their day off, they are all resting for their big ride tomorrow."

"Oh my, I didn't realise there was a ride tomorrow. I wouldn't have bothered you alone at the ranch if I had known."

"No, No! I like the company. And plus, you'll get to meet all the horses one on one, without any of the girls bothering you." "In fact, would you like to come to the ride tomorrow? Unfortunately you won't be able to saddle up, but you can watch, and see how our ranch derbies work." 

I can't believe Paulette just invited me to one of her derbies! Contain yourself Kylie, she's just being nice to you since you're new.

"Wow! Really? That sounds amazing, I would love to come watch!"

"Great! Meet us here at 7:00 am tomorrow morning!"
