Diana's Perspective

"Diana... Diana, wake up," a gentle voice called out.
"Leave me alone," I grumbled, still half-asleep.
"Diana!"
"What? What is it? I am awake now."

As I opened my eyes, I found my brothers, Marcos and Mateo, standing by my bed with broad smiles adorning their faces. Sitting up, I stifled a small yawn.
"Yes?" I rubbed my eyes, trying to fully wake up.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" multiple voices exclaimed in unison.

Only then did I notice the others present in the room - my loving father, the king of Christoria, and my mother, the queen, along with my brothers, Romeo and Michael.

Today is my fifth birthday, and I am filled with excitement.

"Thank you," I replied, embracing my mum and dad. My brothers hugged me warmly, whispering prayers of prosperity into my ears. If only those prayers could come true in my life.

"My dear, get ready; your party begins at noon," my father announced as he ushered the boys out. Now, it's just me and my mother.

"Mum, there's a party?" My joy was almost boundless.

"Yes, darling, and all your friends and family will be there to celebrate your special day," she said, squishing my cheeks while wearing a hearty smile, then she left.

The hall where our family hosts events was teeming with people. Some I recognized, while others were unfamiliar faces.

The hall was filled with the aroma of various fragrances and pastries. My father introduced me to many new people, which was overwhelming and made me feel like a grown-up. However, I couldn't help but wish to remain young forever.

"Come on, Diana. Let's sing for you so you can make a wish," my mum assisted me to the elevated platform of the hall. With a microphone in hand, she began singing, and the crowd joined in.

A radiant smile graced my face; I felt like the only girl in the world.

The cake was brought to the table on the platform.
"Blow it out and make a wish, Diana," they encouraged.
The hall fell silent as I blew out my five candles, pondering my wish.

'I wish to become a pretty girl with a handsome prince by my side,' inspired by the tale of Cinderella.

"Yay! I pray your wish comes true," the crowd applauded as my mum and I faced them.

However, the cheers quickly transformed into gasps and confused glances. My mother looked towards my father for information, but he seemed occupied with some business merchants.

The glances shifted towards us, and some people covered their mouths in shock. A girl screamed and pointed behind us.

My mum abruptly pushed me towards the cake, and I found my face buried in it. Quickly wiping my face, I saw my mother held at gunpoint, and a man pinning her against the wall with a gun.

"Sebastian, please not in front of her. Not today," she pleaded.

In fear, I began to cry, seeking comfort in my personal maid's embrace. She pushed my head into her side, concerning me from the scene.

Then, I heard a gun go off. My personal maid was pulled away from me, and I looked back to see my mother's lifeless body on the floor in a pool of blood. My heart trembled.

A finger directed my gaze to the man's face, and he spoke mockingly, "Gruesome, isn't it?"

I pulled me to my feet, witnessing my father held down by two hefty men.

"This room is surrounded by my men. No one's getting in, no one's getting out until I say so," the man named Sebastian declared as he approached my father.

"Davidson, a wife for a wife. I'm sorry about your loss, but not sorry."

My father attempted to speak, but he was gagged.

"Let me make a deal with you. I take the girl with me and leave you guys, or I leave her here, and I rule this kingdom."

My father gave me a weary glance, and they removed the gag.

"You can't take my only daughter, Sebastian," my father glared at the man.

"Choose an option."

With a heavy sigh, my dad replied, "Take Diana. I can't give up my kingdom and risk hundreds of lives. I'm sorry, Diana. Take care of yourself."

Even at that young age, I understood one thing - that was the last time I would see my mum, the last time in that mansion with those people, and the last time with support. From that point onward, I was on my own.
