The next day Colby woke up and as promised Both Rebecca and Chelsea were gone. He got out of bed with tears in his eyes but the quickly went away as his eyes focused on a piece of paper on Rebecca's side of the bed he picked it up and started to read it:
Dear Colby, I love you dearly. But my heart needs to heal. I wish I could trust you every second of everyday. I wish we could be together right now, watching a movie was a family or playing outside with Chelsea. But instead chels and I are on a flight to Ireland. I need time away from everything up there in the sates. I needed to go back home. And re-discover myself again. I don't know how long this will take. And I'm so so sorry, if I don't come back by the time our little one is born. I promise to let you know and get you flight out here. Chelsea loves you so much, so loved having a father in her life. But her little heart is broken too. This is best for all of us. I don't think j can write anymore. I can't think, because of how much I'm crying. I just want you to know I love you and I will never ever forget you.Bye, Colby. - Love, Rebecca, Chelsea, and the little one.
He held the paper in his hand and let out sobs running his hands over his head in frustration, pulling his hair. He began to throw things around breaking the TV, and a window. At that time he didn't care, not at all.
He walked out of what use to be his and Rebecca's bedroom and into his daughters room. He looked around the room that was pink with sparkles and rainbows everywhere. He got down on his knees and picked up the pieces of glass shattered with a pictured of all three of them underneath it.
"I'm so so sorry girls. I don't know What I was thinking. I've flipped everything unpaired down. I love you guys. I wish I could tell you that on more time. I promise to work on myself. I know I've said that in the past. But I am 100% sure now. I want you guys back." He said as he sobbed. Minutes later he got up and walked downstairs where he say another note on the counter.
"Your promises meant a lot to us. We really wanted to keep the rings on. But we just couldn't do it. If I want to find myself, I have to give it my all. Chelsea is older now and she understands. She didn't want to keep it on. But she still has it. Mines, mines is in the guest room along with, pictures, and a copy of Chelsea birth certificate... once again, goodbye."
He was crying again, he walked back upstairs into the guest room and sure enough everything that Becky said would be there was.
He took the ring and held it close to his heart. Yes, he was mad at himself. But most off all he was hurt.
3 hours later
3 hours later and 2 bottles of alcohol later,
He called it a day. Surprisingly, he was still sober. So he went into the room crying once again and walked into the bathroom to take a bath.
When he was done with the bath, he looked at his phone to see 3 missing calls from Rebecca. He really didn't want to talk to her, but he knew she wasn't gonna stop calling,until he answered. When she called back he just answered
"Hello." He said
"Hey, I'm sorry this had to happen" she cried
"It's ok, stop crying. You're gonna make me cry again." He said
"Sorry, I just wanted to let you know that we landed and we're safe at my moms house." She said
"Ok, that's good. Uhh before you go I have a quick question." He told her
"Go" she replied
"Are you buying a house down there permanently or is this temporary?" He asked nervously
"Like I said in the note. I don't know how long I'll be , but yes I will be buying a house, actually my mom and I went house hunting early." She said
""Any luck" he said trying to make the conversation less awkward
"No, not really" she told him "uh,Chelsea wants to talk to you."
"Ok." He replied
He heard background noise and the phone shift
"Hello" the little girls voice said
"Hey,princess. How are you" he asked his daughter
"Pissed" she said he heard a gasp from the other side of the line and he gasped as well
"CHELSA ROSE!" Colby and Rebecca scolded
"I'm just upset, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say it" she said
"It's ok" he told her "I miss you chels" he cooed
"I think i miss you too" she said
"You think?" He asked
"Yea, mommy's mad at you. So me too" she said
"I'm sorry for upsetting you guys." He said
Before she could respond becky took the phone
"Alright,call time is over. Chelsea has to go to bed." Becky said
"It's like 11:00" Colby said
"It's 4 am. Wayyyyyy past her bedtime" she said
"The time difference, I forgot. Well I love you guys and good night" he said hoping for an "I love you back"
"Goodnight" and with that the phone call dropped
He felt relieved that Becky even called him.
He laid in bed and thought about how he was going to explain this to his parents the next day.
He huffed to himself. And started to go to sleep.
