James, Sirius, and Peter are unpacking their things while Remus sits on his bed reading Tales of Beedle the Bard.
JAMES
It's the week boys!
SIRIUS
The week for what?
JAMES
The week of the dance of course!
SIRIUS
Oh, right, I forgot about that.
JAMES
She may have rejected me once-
SIRIUS
Once?
JAMES
I'm gonna ask Lily again and-
REMUS
And she will say yes because you "feel lucky this time!"
JAMES
Exactly!
SIRIUS
Now you know I love and support you mate, but I don't think Lily's gonna say yes.
JAMES
If she doesn't go with me, then who does she go with?
PETER
Snivillous? But that's a stab in the dark.
REMUS
Well you're right, she will probably go with Severus instead of you.
JAMES
Merlin, not that slimy git!
SIRIUS
Oh don't be upset James. You should be used to Lily rejecting you for slimy Snivillous by now!
JAMES
Shut it.
SIRIUS
Isn't he feisty!
Sirius and Peter laugh, Remus rolls his eyes. Sirius walks over to Remus' bed and lays down next to him.
SIRIUS
Moony, I haven't seen you in a week and you decide to spend your time reading children's books when I get back.
REMUS
You want me to reread Quidditch Through the Ages for the third time this year then?
SIRIUS
No, I want you to talk to me.
Sirius gives him puppy dog eyes. Remus shuts his book and falls onto his back next Sirius. He turns his head to look Sirius dead in the eyes. They stare at each other for a little bit.
SIRIUS (CONT'D)
Staring isn't talking.
REMUS
Then what is this?
Sirius smirks and Remus blushes.
SIRIUS
What are you planning on doing for the dance?
REMUS
(stuttering)
N-nothing. I was just gonna go either alone or with someone as friends.
SIRIUS
I'll go with you.
REMUS
(shocked; stuttering)
What?
SIRIUS
I mean, we are friends.
REMUS
Ye- yeah. I kinda assumed you were gonna ask-
JAMES
I left my favorite jumper at home! Sirius, can u lend me one?
SIRIUS
(getting up)
I don't have that many, but which one?
JAMES
Do you have just a brown one I can use for a bit?
SIRIUS
Of course.
JAMES
Thanks, mate.
(looking over to Remus)
Why are you reading that book?
REMUS
Mum sent me my childhood copy for Christmas.
JAMES
Oh that's sweet. Were you just reading it to Sirius?
SIRIUS
I wish, Tale of the Three Brothers is my favorite.
