When I saw the child's resemblance to Eleanor, I immediately recognized her as her sister. Mukhang kakagaling lang nito sa pag-iyak habang pinapatahan ni Eleanor. My heart swelled with the view.
As I watched her comforting her sister, I suddenly thought of her being a mother to our kids. Right, our kids. Napailing ako sa naisip ko. Nakita ko si Eleanor na nakatingin sakin pero patuloy ang pagpapatahan niya kay Lana. I gave her a small smile.
I was proud of her for some reason.
I can't imagine how she can manage to be a Law student, a COO for their company, a companion for me, a party girl and now, even this: a caring sister. I was wrong to judge her for who I thought she is without even knowing her for real.
Nginitian niya lang din ako before kissing her sister's cheek. Napansin ko na tumigil na pala sa pag-iyak ang kapatid niya. Kaya pala hindi na siya mapakali kanina. She probably knows that Lana's crying while looking for her.
"Baby girl, ibababa muna kita, okay? I'll introduce you to someone." She gave me a glance before putting Lana down. Napatingin naman agad sa akin ang kapatid niya as she held Eleanor's hand.
Hindi ko alam ang gagawin. It's not like I've been surrounded by kids before. Sure enough, inaalagaan ko na minsan yung anak ni Fier na si Emma pero kaya lang naman ganoon ay dahil I have no choice but to take care of my niece.
I stood awkwardly as her sister scrutinized me with her looks. I glanced at Eleanor and she mouthed, "Lapitan mo."
I scratched the back of my neck bago lapitan si Lana. Lumuhod ako sa harapan niya para magkapantay na lang kami. I smiled awkwardly, "Hi."
Napanguso ito before smirking―a smirk that made her resemble Eleanor even more. "Hello." She continued, "I'm Elana Kier. Daddy says I'm Lana."
"Nice meeting you, Lana. I'm Chance." I offered my hand. Alam kong nakatingin lang samin si Eleanor habang nanonood which made it even more awkward. For some reason, I want to impress her by showing I'm good with kids. Lana shook my hand with her tiny one. Bumaling ito sa kapatid niya kaya napatingin na din ako kay Eleanor.
"How are you related to Mr. Chance, Achi Kai?" Napangiti ako sa pagtawag niya ng Ate kay Eleanor. Eleanor glanced at me before smirking, "He's a close friend, baby girl."
"Oh-kay..."
"Now you should probably go and play with Manang. I'll talk to Mr. Chance, alright?" Tumango si Lana bago ako balingan. The girl smiled bago ako lapitan at halikan sa pisngi. Lana giggled before running away to play. Parang kanina lang ay umiiyak pero ngayon ay masayang-masaya na.
Now I know why they're sisters.
Tumayo na ako mula sa pagkakaluhod ko. Eleanor placed her hands on her hips, watching me. I cocked my head to the side, "What?"
