Chapter Twenty-Three.

"Crazy"

After that 'thank-you dinner' from Eleanor, the next few days were a bore. Well that's new because I never called working as boring. Working for me, is one way to relieve my personal stress, so why the hell did I call it boring?

Have I gone mad?

"Chance, you have a meeting in ten minutes with the Finance Department. Better get ready," Claire gave me a supportive smile before going back to her cubicle. Okay, work was not exactly boring. We were actually busy these past few days because the Holidays are coming up and the employees are expecting their bonuses and of course, the annual Christmas party. I had non-stop meetings with the HR Department―they'll be handling the party for the employees―and the Finance Department for the bonuses.

It was already December and I wanted to feel the yuletide season but I was thinking of Eleanor. We haven't communicated since because she must be preparing for her Finals. After all, it's her last year in UP College of Law so she better work hard for it.

But it's driving me crazy―not seeing her. I didn't know I was this infatuated. It's scary.

"Chance, they're already in the Conference Room." Claire said, peaking from my office door, which broke my reverie.

"I'm coming." I heaved a long sigh before fixing myself. Now that I am aware of the feelings that I have for Eleanor, I am becoming less and less interested for other things. I just wanted her her her her―only her―if that even makes sense.

I know. I sound stupid.

I ran a hand through my hair before making my way out of the office. I saw my Assistant on her cubicle facing her computer. "Buy some donuts and anything you like. It'll be my treat." I gave Claire a smile. Claire and I had become friends―like the casual friends ever since I asked for her help when Eleanor and I went to Boracay. We still have the boss-assistant relationship but most often than not, we talk casually. I knew I owe a lot to her for supporting and helping me with my crazy plan so I became nicer. I treat her like an older sister because practically, she's older than me.

I also gave her lighter and easier tasks because I didn't want to risk her health and her child's. And I would often treat her with donuts―she's been craving for those due to her pregnancy―during lunch and even during office hours. Claire was nice and it felt good that I can talk to her when needed.

She even knew what I feel for Eleanor. I never told her about it but she told me that she knows because it won't take a genius to realize how crazy I was for her. She said she knew, the moment I came to the office looking smug before asking her for Eleanor's contact number. She knew I was bound to fall, anyway.

Claire gave me a grateful smile. "Wow, thank you Chance. Do you want anything else?" She really loved donuts, especially the ones from JCO. She can eat an entire dozen a day.

"Uhm, maybe coffee will suffice. I need it." Then I went straight to the conference room. Jace Alarcon was already there with his Secretary, as well as the other AVPs from Finance.
