Damn Chance, dinedescribe mo naman kasi siya. Malamang siya lang yun.
"Anyway, ano nga pala yung problema mo?" Her eyebrows shot up as she looked at me.
"Anong problema?"
"Kanina ka pa kayang hindi mapakali." I pointed.
"Wala nga yun diba."
"And you think I'll be like the others who'll believe you for that? Don't fool me, Hon. You should know better than that." I smirked.
Eleanor glanced at her phone before turning to me. Mukhang nag-iisip pa kung sasabihin niya ba or hindi. She cleared her throat twice before speaking.
"Kailangan kasi ako sa bahay."
"What?" I asked, na parang hindi makapaniwala. "I mean, why? May nangyari ba?"
"It's not that tragic! Dad's not home, he's in some business trip in London. And he won't be back until next week. Naiwan si Lana sa bahay. Andun naman sila Manang but Lana's looking for me." She shrugged and I sighed in relief. Akala ko naman ay may masamang nangyari.
"I'll drive you to your house." I said. Tiningnan niya lang ako bago umiling, rejecting my offer.
"I can manage, Chance. Tsaka may trabaho ka pa."
"It's not actually an offer. It's a command." I stared at her, daring her to defy me. I raised my hand to call the waiter for our bill. Nakatingin lang sakin si Eleanor na mukhang wala nang magagawa. Nginisian ko lang siya habang nagbabayad.
Tumayo na ako bago hilahin siya palabas ng restaurant. Hindi rin naman talaga ako busy. I can sign all those papers tomorrow. I'll be too willing to drop anything just for her.
Naglakad kami pabalik ng office dahil andoon ang sasakyan ko. All the while, I was dragging her with her wrist. Hindi na naman siya nagreklamo because I'm determined to drive her home.
Why? Because I'm curious. Recently ko lang din naman nalaman na may kapatid siya and I never had the chance to meet her four-year-old sister, Elana Kier. So fcking yes, I'll drive her home. Whatever it takes.
Narating namin ang parking lot at dumiretso na siya sa pagsakay ng kotse ng walang imik. Tumawag pa ako kay Claire para ipaalam na baka maya-maya pa uli ako makakabalik ng office.
I got in the car and drove to her house. Alam ko na din naman kung saan yun dahil pumupunta kami doon tuwing may gatherings―for business purposes.
I pulled up infront of their gate and Eleanor immediately got out of the car na parang nagmamadali. Pinanood ko lang muna siyang pumasok ng bahay bago naisipang sumunod sa kanya. When I got inside, binati ako ng mga housekeeper nila. Dumiretso ako sa living room at nakita si Eleanor na may buhat-buhat na bata.
