For the first time since I first met her, Stephanie was completely silent. Taking in what I've said for a moment before giving her full attention as she started saying, "My deal would be that you stay away from David-"
"Yes, yes the whole plant knows that part about you wanting me to stay away from your ex, because you don't want him to move on," I waved her speech of having her ex being around other girls and doing his own damn thing. Which I got narrow glance from her.
Ignoring it as always before continuing talking, "What's your deal beside the obvious?"
Seeing that this was Stephanie who I was talking to about this, I basically knew what she was going to say next, "David takes me back."
David nearly lost his mind from hearing that as he raised his voice, "Hell fucking no!!! You are not going to be part of any bet with me or Ariel, and I don't give a flying jack if it's your party, the answer is no!"
Nearly the whole cafeteria was staring at our table, because of how loud David raised his voice and if I'm going to be honest, it was a bit scary. A whole lot scary.
I had gotten to know David as this cheeky, cocky, sometimes self-loving guy who smirk for nearly everybody. This is very rare moment where I would see him irritated or hot under the collar and screaming his objection.
Charlotte slowly reached across the table to her twin, gently rubbing the back of his hand which helped calm him down a little bit, but not as fully. That weird feeling of wanting to comfort him while Stephanie irritated him was growing stronger with every second that passes.
Yet I don't give it any attention before turning it back to Stephanie who doesn't like having to be yelled at, "Let's have this bet between ourselves instead."
Stephanie raised her eyebrow at me while her followers were whispering to each other and David slowly turned his head towards me, "Hear me out, you want me to stay away from your ex and believe that you're the best dancer that Sapphire has."
Suddenly Stephanie forgotten David sitting at the table completely, making herself stand up taller and with a lot of pride as she said with confidence, "I don't believe that I'm the best dancer, I know that I am Sapphire's best dancer. The best dancer they ever have. There is no one else who is Sapphire's top soloist dancer than me, no one has ever beaten the Queen of Battles, and if I were you, I would drop out before embarrassing myself." Queen of Battles?! Who came up with that name?
Trying to shallow my laugh back down again while I shrugged my shoulders as I let my competitive side come out a bit when saying, "Prove it then, if you can win me in a dance battle tonight at your party, then I'll publicly admit that you are Sapphire's best dancer and might keep my distance from your ex."
A greedy, nearly unlike smile grow on Stephanie's face like some villain from a cartoon before she asked, "And if you happen to win our bet."
"No admitting that I'm the best dancer or not, because that's he's baby," I pointed at David who was staring between me and Stephanie blankly, yet he hasn't said anything since screaming his head off.
It's understandable for his outburst, I mean, I would have thrown my ex down a flat of stairs for not wanting to move on if I have. "But I would prefer that you keep your own options to yourself and leave me and my friend Janelle alone, because you're honestly a joy kill to everyone and no one can stand putting up with you."
Laughter came from both Ryan and Charlotte which lighten the atmosphere that was very much intense a bit, but not as fully as I would have hoped it would. The easy going, joking atmosphere died the minute Stephanie came in demanding to be part of the bet between me and David.
