"Kageyama, bring it here!" I jump and my hand collides with the ball. I open my eyes again and feel my feet land on the floor, my team's cheers echoing around me. But I can barely hear it, my attention now hyper-focused on my hand and the feeling that I love after I hit a spike. I look down at the palm of my hand and take in the sting that throbs within it. Suddenly, I can feel the light touch of a hand on my shoulder. I raise my gaze to see Kageyama staring back into my eyes.

"Good hit, boke," He says, slightly ruffling my hair.

"That was an amazing toss, Kageyama!" I say. I could feel my body infuse with energy once again as I snap back to reality. Were only one point up now.

"One last one!" I hear Suga yell from the sideline. I look over and give him a big thumbs up, which he returns with a smile and a half.

The ref blows his whistle and the Fukordani setter, Keiji Akaashi, serves the ball toward Daichi in the back row. He receives it with ease and makes it a precision pass to Kageyama. I'm already running for the spike.

"Send it here!" I yell as I jump. But the ball goes over my head and Tanaka lands the winning point from the other side of me. He lands on his feet and roars in victory. Noya is there in a second, jumping onto his back in celebration. The rest of the team gathers around and enjoys the accomplishment. When the excitement dies down we line up and say thank you.

"Hey, hey, hey! There's my little apprentice!" I hear someone say excitedly from behind me. I immediately recognize the voice, how could I not?

"Bokuto!" I say as I run up to him. He raises his hand above his hand, smirking. I silently accept the challenge and speed up my run toward him, preparing to jump. I leap and, in mid-air, slap his hand. I land and we laugh, both deciding internally that this was our new greeting.

"It's good to see you, Bokuto. Hello Akaashi," Kageyama says, walking up from where I left him. Akaashi greets him from behind Bokuto.

"Your spikes were looking great today little man," Bokuto praises me.

"I learned from the best," I say and Bokuto blushes slightly in embarrassment.

"You flatter me," He says with a flick of his wrist. "Although I am a pretty good teacher if I do say so myself."

Akaashi soon spoke up, "Well it was good to play with you guys again, even if it was just a practice game. But our bus is leaving now so we've got to go,"

"Aww okay! Well, see you guys next time!" I say waving them off.

"We'll win next time for sure!" Bokuto says before joining his team once again. Kageyama and I turn around and head back to our own team. While we were talking, everyone had cleaned up and were getting ready to leave. Kageyama and I go to our bags and change out of our volleyball shoes and into sandals. We make sure everything is put away and in order before leaving. On the way out, we stop by a vending machine so Kageyama can get his milk—he's gotta keep those bones strong, after all. We sit down at a bench nearby while he finishes his milk. He suddenly turns to me, taking the last sip left in the carton.

"My parents are gone for the night, they're visiting my grandma in Tokyo and decided to stay over because they didn't want to drive all the way back at night. You wanna come over for a little bit?" He says looking away. I think I see him blush. I flip through my mental calendar and remember I don't have anything planned for tonight or tomorrow.
