Regret

We ditched the party. Very unethical of me to leave just that! Well, I was left no choice, plus, I have no use there. My parents and grandparents were the ones who're doing the talking and advertising me and my brother.

A new sports car welcomed my sight when we reached the basement. It was cool. Very different from before. More modern!

"Your car?" words escaped out of my mouth automatically.

"Uhm... yeah?"

He wasn't sure?

"Or maybe... your brother's."

Pumasok na ako sa kotse niya. Hindi niya na ako pinakialamanan dahil sinabi kong kaya ko na...

I am also making things lighter between us so I wouldn't feel uncomfortable... at least? After all, we're friends!

"This is mine. I bought it myself..." what he said when he entered his car, too.

I buckled up my seatbelt and looked at him. He stared a moment before starting the engine. A slow swallow from me before I ask again.

"Where?"

"Las Vegas..." the car started to move. It was smooth with a little speed. May kaunting takot sa loob ko.

"You had it imported..."

"Ah-huh..." he answered and a smirk plastered upon his cheek. I looked away now since I had nothing to day now.

Aaminin ko, nahihiya ako, naiilang. It's been years... It's been years!

It's been years for the incident and it's been years! Since the last time we've met. It's normal to feel all the awkwardness on the atmosphere, right?

"So... uhm..."

It's starting. The disaster...

I did not respond until he added something.

"You remember... my message?"

"Alin doon?" tanong ko, hindi tumitingin dahil takot na malunod sa mga mata niya.

Wait. Did I just say that?!

But it's true... Since then, that's what I always feel when he's around. Hindi ba puwedeng mag throwback feelings? Pero! Hindi feelings na... gusto or whatsover. Plain feelings. Just the normal feelings.

"You... did not read everything, did you?"

Umiling ako, hindi pa rin tumitingin.

"How could I? I think it has no dead end. I kept on scrolling, I got tired so..."

"It's okay... wala namang importante roon."

Kumunot ang noo ko.

"Maybe I should continue scrolling? It seems like there is!" I joked. "Don't worry I'd hire scroller!"

I laughed at my own joke. He laughed too but sounded different. Parang iba ang dahilan ng pagtawa niya.

"I missed your laugh..." he chuckled and I was taken abacked by that. I even heard myself gasped.

That's it!

I really can't take this kind of talk. It's making my heart face trouble. Baka next week ay ma-admit na ako sa hospital.

Hindi na nasundan ang usapan namin. Maybe he noticed that I still wasn't comfortable with such remark. He understood me...

The high end club was wildly alive, as it always supposed to be. The neon lights covered the whole place. The loud music occupies my ears and its beats came along with my heart's pounding. This is... I think... a bit exciting, huh?
