"What have you done?" He mocked. "Should I not be asking you that?" He pointed in accusation. "What have you been doing, busy drinking buckwheat?"

She stopped, as if surprised.

"Ha-ha!" He derided. "You didn't think I would find out, did you?"

"Yuwen Hong," she exhaled. "Calm down. Princess Cai Wenjin is sleeping in the other chamber."

"Calm down? Huh? Calm down?" He picked the teapot of wine that had bled all the blood-red wine onto the carpet.

Smash!

She winced a little, shaken by his madness. "That is what I can do to you, so you better listen, and listen sharply to whatever I will say today." He pulled the case of buckwheat from his sleeves and threw it onto her lap.

Her eyes widened. "What is my case doing here?"

He just stared at her, withering inside. Who did he fall for? And why did he? She was really the mistress of deception. The devil didn't deceive like this.

"Yuwen Hong―"

"Stop acting like the goddess of this empire, I'm punishing you today." He pulled his wooden stool by the wall and sat. "Start talking."

"Huh? What is even there to talk about when you have made up your mind that violence is the answer?" Li Lian put aside the case and proceeded with her work. "You are such a drama queen." She tightened the thread and snapped it, before tying whatever it was.

That was a low blow. A very big one that allowed another flood of anger to take over. He rammed the stool across the room, over the bed, smashing the window and falling outside. Yuwen Hong took the garment from her and rumpled it up, wishing to tear it into pieces.

"Now that is enough!" She hurled herself up, shouting her lungs out. "What is wrong with you?"

"Shut up! You don't talk to me like that!" He pushed her back on the bed, his hand twitching and trembling with pent up rage.

"Ow!" She held her back, tenderly.

He reflexed with concern for a mere bit before the sea of anger and frustration flooded him again, causing him not to care.

She got up and picked her discarded garment and a pillow.

"Where are you going?" he howled.

"To sleep."

"I'm not done with you."

"I won't sleep with a monster!"

"Oh well, then I better be sending you to hell!" He pulled her by her arm and tossed her back on the bed.

"Yuwen Hong!" She finally snapped. "This is what you want, right? Me screaming back like an unhappy child?" She pushed on his chest, now on the same tidal wave as him.

"Respect me," he commanded.

"You deserve no silver stone of respect from me!" She lashed. "And I am so glad I took the buckwheat, you don't deserve to be the father of my children!"

His hand hurriedly lifted toward her, but quickly hesitated to slap her quiet.

Li Lian laughed, taunting him. "What? You are going to slap me again?" More laughter before she took on her fierce look. "Do it! It wouldn't be the first time anyway!"

He seizedher by the back of her neck. "I need to stitch that small mouth shout."

"I forgot neck choking was another of your shelved threats. Go on, kill me!"
