When I was a little girl I used to stare up at the stars dreamed the biggest dreams a little girl could dream. I'd stretched my arms up high connecting them with the tip of my finger because they made me feel alive, not only that but they made me feel safe knowing that they would always lead me home. Then I got older and and the stars started to dim and I became lost and alone. It wasn't till my freshman year that I heard a poem called "I know why the caged bird sings" and made me feel less alone in this world. I may still be lost but at least I know I'm not alone anymore.
