"It's okay," he whispered. "I'm still here."
Shanna clutched Law's shirt for her dear life as she started crying on the top of her lungs again. She had lost count how many times she's wept today. Law's eyes were swollen from crying too, but he had to suppress the sadness in him and comfort her. Shanna knew she was being unfair, and that Law was just as sad as her, because he too, loved her mother like his own. Even so, she couldn't do anything but cry.
"I don't wanna be alone!" Shanna sobbed.
"You won't be alone. I promise." Law patted the back of her head, calming her down.
Once Shanna ran out of tears, Law laid her down on the bed again, and pulled the covers over her. She grabbed him by his shirt, and begged him not to leave. Law's eyes softened at the little girl, and joined her under the blanket. Shanna wrapped her arms around his torso, and planted her face in his chest. Law had no choice but to place his arms around her as well, and patted her back rhythmically as he tried to get her to sleep.
"Law...."
"Hmm?"
"You won't die, right?"
"Trust me, I'll become the man to live the longest in the entire world. With my devil fruit power, it's hard to even get sick. I won't die. I promise."
...
The scenery changed again when Shanna woke up. She was no longer in Law's arms, but sleeping on the bed. When she sat up she saw everyone eating at the dining table. The daylight helped her see the interior od the cottage much better. "Oh! Shanna-chan's up!" Franky noticed.
"Hey... How long have I been asleep?" Shanna asked.
"More than two days. You and Luffy can really sleep," Robin chuckled.
Holy shit, I've been asleep for more than two days? She thought she felt great that night when she woke up, but it seems like she really did need a lot of rest. Her body felt nice and light, and she no longer felt light headed.
"I need to thank you for saving Rebecca," said Kyros as he bowed to Shanna. "Thank you."
"I saved who?" Shanna raised a brow.
"Shanna-chan don't you remember? You saved Rebecca from Diamante on the Flower Hill," said Robin.
The redhead shook her head. "Doesn't ring a bell."
"You hit your head reallt hard, it's normal for your memory to be hazy. Don't think too hard about it. Here," Law said. He walked over from the dining table with a glass of water and a large piece of meat. "Eat."
Shanna looked at the meat, and then at the other foods on the dining table. "But I want bread."
Law shoved the meat in her mouth while clicking his tongue in annoyance. "Shut up and eat." Shanna made a loud 'mmf' sound but couldn't hold back a soft chuckle. Robin and the Straw Hats smiled at the two Heart Pirates.
"You guys made up! I'm so happy!" Robin exclaimed.
Law averted his face from the Straw Hats, hiding the faint blush forming on his face, meanwhile Shanna laughed with her mouth stuffed. "Mmm Mnb Mmf MMM!"
Law smacked the girl on the back of her head lightly. "Oi, swallow before you talk!"
The Straw Hats broke into a fit of laughter, enjoying the sweet moment. But it didn't last long, for Bartolomeo burst in with the news of the arrival of marines. Shoving down the food and water, the pirates all made a run for it behind Bartolomeo, who led them to the eastern port.
Right about near the eastern port, however, Law made a stop. "You guys go ahead," he said. "I'll catch up."
"Where are you going?" asked Shanna.
"To get some answers," Law replied.
"Can I come?" Law paused, hesitation in his eyes. "I want to know."
"I'm going to go see Sengoku. It's best that I go alone. I'll tell you everything once I get the answers I need," Law said. Shanna frowned. Again, secrets. Law could see the unwillingness in her expression, and his eyes softened. "I promise." She froze when he started leaning in, closer and closer. She used to have dreams of kissing Law when she was younger. Even during the past two years without him she used to dream of them together. But when she found their distance shrinking the only thing she could think is HOLY SHIT!
Law pressed his lips onto to her forehead, gave it a short kiss before disappearing to wherever he was planning to go. Shanna was frozen there for about a good ten seconds before she realized what had happened. Then she lifted her left hand to touch the place he kissed. "Why not the lips?" she grumbled before turning and ran towards the port.
"You look happy!" Robin noticed.
"Ah, do I?" Shanna smiled shyly.
"Did something good happen to you and Tra-guy?"
Shanna really need to get over the Straw Hats calling Law Tra-guy, but she still finds it funny. "I guess you can say so," Shanna chuckled.
"What's that?!" someone shouted, catching Robin and Shanna's attention. They looked up into the sky to see all the rubbles from the fight with the Donquixote Family floating in the air.
"He's planning to sink all of our ships!" Shanna realized. "We have to go now!" The pirates continued down the port, where dozens of pirate ships lined up for them.
From behind, Shanna heard people chasing after them. Many of them shouted, "Lucy! Hold it right there!" When she turned her head, she was surprised to see all the Dressrosians running and waving at them from behind, each with a big grateful smile on their face. There was this tiny warmth in her heart at the view. Law always taught her that pirates aren't heroes, but to theae people, if they aren't heroes, what are they?
The pirates arrived in front of the Yonta Maria Grand Fleet of the Massacre Ruler Orlumbus. "T-This is huge!" Shanna exclaimed, jaws wide open. She wondered how many people could fit in this ship, how many thousand? Compared to this, her Polar Tang was the size of an ant.
"Tra-guy-kun!" Robin exclaimed. Shanna turned around, and there he stood, right behind her.
"You're ba-" Law cuts her off by surprise when he suddenly threw his arms around her shoulder. It's a little late for an 'I'm glad you're safe' hug, but Shanna assumed that this wasn't one of those. Law let out a deep breath, but it didn't seem like he was sighing out of relief, but more like he was set free. Not really sure what he and Sengoku talked about, but Shanna was glad Law came out of it feeling better. "You got the answer you needed?"
"Sort of," Law chuckled as he let go of her. "Let's get on the ship, and then I can take my time telling you everything you want to know."
Shanna liked that idea, but after they got on the ship, first they witnessed the joining of the 5600 people Straw Hat Grand Fleet, and then started to party in celebration of their victory against the Donquixote Family. During all the commotion, Zoro force fed Shanna two big mugs of beer as he laughed his ass off. Little did he know the young girl had zero to no tolerance to alcohol, and passed out right away.
"Roronoa-ya! What have you done?!" Law demanded when he saw the redhead sprawled on the ground snoring loudly.
"BAHAHAHAHA! SO WEAK!" Zoro laughed. Although she felt disappointed that she slept through the banquet, but for the first time in two years, Shanna slept with a big smile on her lips.
