A/N Hi! Thank you so much for giving my story a read! I just wanted to clarify some things before you begin reading. The timeline of this story isn't the same as in the movie or books, so there's some details that will be different.

Alright that's it, hope you enjoy!

-------------------------------------

Going to Hogwarts has always been exciting. Everything, from packing your clothes into your trunk, to shopping at Diagon Alley for your books, to seeing your friends after Christmas break, it always feels as exciting as the first time.

All except for this part, this part I dreaded. This part was the worst. This part, I always have to try my hardest not to bawl my eyes out.

"Bye mum! I love you!" I stuck my hand out the window and waved goodbye at my mother. She waved back, smiling widely at me as she threw kisses my way. I felt the train beginning to move, my heart aching for my mother as her glossy eyes watched me drift away. Even from a distance, I could tell she was crying, though she tried to hide it with a smile. A chorus of "Bye's" and "I love you's" came from the group of students beside me who were also saying goodbye to their loved ones. I watched as we moved further and further away from my mum, until she was no longer in sight.

I took deep breaths, trying not to cry. Don't get me wrong, I love going to Hogwarts, I just hate leaving my mother alone. It makes me feel guilty knowing that I'm over here surrounded by my friends and having fun while she's home alone without anyone to keep her company. She always tells me she's alright by herself but I can see right through her, she hates it when I leave.

"Isabelle?" I heard a very familiar voice say, snapping me out of my thoughts. I instantly smiled, turning around to face none other than Hermione Granger. "Hermione!" I yelled, running towards her and giving her a tight hug.

"We've been looking for you!" She said, hugging me back. I was about to ask who she meant by 'we' until I saw a mop of red hair pop out from the corner.

"Ron!" I shouted excitedly, before letting go of Hermione and giving him a bone crashing hug.

"Well it looks like someone missed us" Ron said, wrapping his arms tightly around me.

"You have no idea" I chuckled against his chest.

"It's my turn for a hug now" I heard Harry say from behind me. Another bright smile appeared on my face, as I turned to see him standing with his arms wide open. "Harry!" I said in excitement, before running towards him.

The four of us became friends on our very first day at Hogwarts. Actually, we first met in this exact train. I remember looking for a place to sit, but being too afraid to talk to anyone. I was a pretty shy girl, who mostly kept to herself. That was, until I bumped into Hermione in the hallway.

{Flashback}

"Oh! Sorry, I didn't see you there. Have you by any chance seen a toad roaming around? A boy named...are you okay? You look so pale" A brown haired girl asked me, as soon as she took a good look at my face. I was trying my hardest to hide the fact that I was extremely nervous and on the verge of a panic attack, but it appears I wasn't very successful.

"Y-Yes, I'm alright" I lied, adding on a fake smile to make my statement somewhat believable. The girl scanned my face for a couple of seconds, before saying "Well, nice to meet you then. I'm Hermione Granger. And you are?" She asked, sticking out her hand for me to shake.

"Isabelle Grimaldi. Nice to meet you" I said, taking her hand and shaking it.

"Have you found a place to sit, Isabelle?" She asked, almost as if she could tell that's what I've trying to find before we bumped into each other.
