Joyce was asleep with her own thoughts and dreams or more realistically: nightmares. Either way it wasn't as bad as actually being awake and dealing with the death of her best friend in the entire world or dealing with having to raise el. It's not that she didn't want to, she just didn't think she could. Joyce had two boys and she had always been slightly on the tom boy side but she never thought of herself as one. Although hoppers words say otherwise. "Sometimes I think those two boys rub off on you more than you think."
She always took it as a compliment.
How could she raise El the right way?
In her mind raising a kid the right way was always making sure they got descant grades, knew right from wrong, and got a good steady job to support their own family.
Of course that's a summarized version of what she thought.
Joyce knew she was asleep and that she was dreaming. She was standing in...nowhere. It was all black and there was just a long stretch of nothing. It was so quiet she could hear her heart beating in her head.
She just started walking and didn't really care where she ended up. It was weird though usually in your dreams you feel like your moving slower and you don't really remember what you were thinking about before you went to sleep and sometimes you felt happier but not Joyce.
She kept walking and started thinking of Hopper and the past few days, specifically their first fight when she showed up at the cabin worried about her magnets.
Although she missed him deeply, she couldn't shake the fact that he was angry she didn't go to their dinner because she couldn't "move on".
"No I don't think it's a joke I just think when I asked you out you got scared..you got scared and now you're inventing things to get worked up about so you can push me away because GOD FORBID THAT ANY OF US move on because that would be..that would be too much wouldn't it joyce?"
Sure she did get scared because she hadn't been on a date since Bob and she kept trying to push Bob away not Hopper. But she ended up pushing away the one she cared about most and then he was angry.
Just when she was ready to think about something else besides him she heard hers and hoppers voices echoing away from her.
It didn't sound far so she walked in the direction she heard the echoing sounds coming from.
Once she reached the spot where it was the loudest, she didn't see anything but she still heard their voices.
Just then the area around her started transforming to look like what seemed to be hoppers cabin and she was certain by the time she was standing right there in front of hoppers room where he was getting dressed while chewing her out for last night.
She was so confused. How could she be here?
It didn't feel anything like a dream.
This was real.
