                               "How was your day?"

I glared at Mick as he leaned against the door archway leading into his study that was off limits to everyone else in the pack. His eyes were presumptuous and I gritted my teeth, dropping my school bag and cornering him into the door.

"You asshole. You totally knew that my mate was here. Didn't you?!" I growled poking him hard in his chest. His size barely calming down the fire in me as he tried to intimidate me by grabbing my wrist.

"You're sexy when your angry, Rogue." He winked swiftly taking hold of the situation when he turned me around and slammed me into the wall.

I couldn't help but think of the word cliche. The feeling of uncertainty swelled inside me and I bit my lip glaring up at him for his actions and trying to think of any means to escape.

One crossed my mind and I couldn't help but sigh mentally.

"Today was a test and you did well." His voice was smoky and sent a delightful shiver down my spine as his breath fanned my ear smelling like the lemon tea that he usually had for lunch.

Our eyes locked and I blinked up at him fluttering my long eyelashes curiously and puckering my lips. It had the right effect when he bit his lip shifting away from me causing me to smirk confidently. I still had my feminine power, I thought.

But I was still angry at him and I showed it by keeping my face emotionless, my voice flat as a key and my movement slow as I followed after him into the kitchen.

I nearly rolled my eyes when I smelt his lemon tea. It hoovered beside the sink where plates were packed amongst each other and steam formed above the red mug.

"So, what do you mean, test, I thought we were done playing games, Mick?" I spoke snottily crossing my arms and leaning into the counter.

His shoulders vibrated with a chuckle as he poured himself more tea. The smell making me relax a bit and press my butt more into the counters that weren't always that clean, but sprayed with Dettol daily by the human servants. Apparently Weres were messy beings.

"You know I'm a child at heart Rogue. The games will only end once the ruler dies and," His smirk wasn't any less than condescending as he spared me a glance. "You know I love seeing you be your feisty self."

His words sparked something inside me. I only took it as the return of the respect I had for him. Despite knowing what I was like and how many people I've killed; he's still stuck by me and acts none the different than his cheery, dick-self.

It made me curl my toes. But other than that, I showed no expression as to what I thought of him. I just did my casual glare and changed the subject tactfully before I tore his dick off in anger.

"What about this Lucy, who is she?"

Mick sipped from his tea twirling the spoon around to form a tornado to capture the taste. The smell coaxing my eyes to close from the exhaustion of today. Highschool sure was harder than what my books anticipated them to be. I relaxed my self though and flickered them open and concealed my yawn into my glove.

Mick sighed placing his hand on his hip and pushing himself a bit more forward so I could hear him more clearly.

He smirked. "Ah, the Portal."

My eyebrows furrowed in perplexity and I rose my chin beckoning him to explain further.

"Lucy," He began slurping up his drink as a small distant smile formed on his face. "Is a key to a greater power. The portal, as I said, to the start of a sacrifice in bringing back a evil entity known as the Reaper."

My eyes grew wide at what he said and his bluntness.

"I've heard that name before, i-in the old tale I think." I stuttered feeling shock build inside me and my mouth went dry as I gulped.

"Isn't she suppose to wreck havoc on the humans by unleashing a virus."

He nodded grimly putting down his now empty cup. His eyes bore a deep emotion that even I couldn't decipher. His knuckles turned white from anger as he clenched his fists tightly and he scowled.

"Yes. That is her sole purpose so to speak. But the Reaper can be used to do many things if in the wrong hands." Mick moved forward to me, his hands gripping my shoulders and his tone anything but serious.

"That is why, it is of the utmost importance that you befriend her before they do." He spoke to me with his eyes frantically searching mine for any sign of confusion or denial.

But, I had to ask the million dollar question.

"They?"

He frowned this time and his eyes reflected sympathy and I knew he was telling the truth.

"Your mate and his vampire family."
