They said that Van Gogh,
Was a very poor man
Who suffered from mental illness
And ate paint to stop feeling bad
But I can see past those stories
And try to understand
How all types of artists
Are misunderstood and sad

He was the eldest of six
And was forced to drop out of school
All because of financial problems
Not even a 15-year old would understood

Then he fell in love
And she rejected him twice
Making his heart shatter
Pieces braking down like ice.
He then was rejected by the church
And he grew even sadder
Thus all he wanted to do
Was be a minister like his father

And on the fall of 1880
He decided to move to Brusselas
He knew he was an artist
And his brother Theo never doubted it

After he fell in love for the third time
His family didn't approve
And threatened to cut him out of money
If he didn't leave her and move

Years passed and he found himself in an asylum
He recognized he was ill
But he wished people would only take him as he was
Still feeling that there was nothing more truly artistic
Than to love people with a pure heart.

"It is only too true that a lot of artists are mentally ill - it's a life which, to put it mildly, makes one an outsider. I am alright when I completely immerse myself on work, but I'll always remain half crazy."
~Vincent Van Gogh
