.....

Inaya's POV:
I dressed into a dark green and yellow lehenga. Today was Dania's mehendi and I was very excited. Even though deep inside I was hurt, I had decided to deal with my problems later.

Looking at myself in mirror, I smiled sadly at my reflection. My eyes looked dull as if all the light had left them, even after all the makeup and there were dark circles under them. Forcing a smile onto my face I walked outside into the lounge.

Dania had wanted her mehendi to be simple and in her own house

Dania had wanted her mehendi to be simple and in her own house. It was specifically a girls only function so I didn't have to worry about a hijab.

I made my way across to the swing where she was sitting. Dressed in a yellow dress and flower jewellery she looked beyond beautiful. "You look stunning." I complimented her and she just winked in return. "As if I didn't know that." She chuckled and I rolled my eyes at her attitude.

"You might want to bring that attitude down a bit."

"No can't do." She shrugged and I laughed shaking my head. She was impossible. We chatted and laughed, after a while, dinner was ready. "Someone's waiting for you outside." I whispered in her ear while everyone was busy in eating.

Her eyes widened in surprise. "No way."

"Yes way." I grinned cheekily. "But I can't"

"No buts. Everyone is busy with the food. Noone will notice if the bride goes missing for 10 minutes and besides it's a once in a lifetime opportunity." She raised her brow at me and I shrugged. "Also I have a backup plan if something goes wrong." I added and she was still thinking.

"Come on." I pulled her up as we silently left the lounge. "Inaya, I still think this isn't a good idea." She pleaded and I raised my brow at her. "Are you nervous?" I teased her. "As if!" She huffed out and I chuckled.

We finally arrived at the backside of the garden where a figure waited. "There he is. Go on." I pushed her out as I stood in the corner. She walked towards him and looked down shyly.

I never knew I'd be seeing the day when Dania would be shy. They talked in whispers while I just silently watched them. Afterall I was the chaperone here. Looking at them reminded me of Me and Zayaan on our wedding day and I quickly pushed the thoughts away.

I couldn't cry right now, I had to be happy for Dania. I felt wetness on my cheek and I touched it. These stupid tears. Unknowingly my hand went to the necklace around my neck, a necklace I had never taken off.

Flashback
We had just come back from the beach and I had retired to my room while Zayaan said he had something to do. I was removing ny earings when I felt two hands on my shoulders making me still.

"Stay still." He muttered as he took something out from his pocket. I gave him a confused look through the mirror but he ignored it. I felt something around my neck and my eyes widened, a gasp leaving my mouth as I stared at the delicate chain.

My fingers lightly brushed against the thin gold chain, stopping at the small diamond pendant at the centre, that rested against my collarbone. "Zayaan this-"

"Happy birthday love." He whispered placing a light kiss against my neck as his arms wrapped around my waist and he kept his head on my shoulder. "This is beautiful." I muttered and he smiled affectionately. "I'm glad you liked it, I was afraid that you won't like it." He confessed and I chuckled.

"This is perfect."

"Just like you." He pecked my cheek as his eyes stared at mine through the mirror making my face heat up. "But you didn't need to." I pointed out. "Yes I did, I realized, I haven't really given you anything and this was the perfect moment for it." He explained and I nodded.

"Thank you." I spoke from the bottom of my heart as I tried telling him through my eyes, he seemed to understand it as his lips tilted into a heart stopping smile. His hand lightly brushed against my heated cheeks, a smirk lacing his features. "I love making you blush."

"I do not blush!" I retorted turning my head towards his. "You sure about that wife?" He whispered darkly and I held my chin in defiance as I nodded. "Is that a challenge?" He cocked his head to the side and I shrugged nonchalantly. "What if it is?"

He hummed in response. "I sure do love challenges." He leaned closer making me freeze. "Especially the ones that I definitely will win." He was too close for comfort and I leaned back a bit. There was a knowing look in his eyes as he raised his brow.

"Are you scared?"

"As if!" I replied and he chuckled. "Then why do you keep leaning back?" His arm was around my waist as he pulled me close. "That's cheating!" I pouted. "It isn't cheating if there aren't any rules." He pointed out and I wriggled against his grip.

I could already feel my face heating up and I knew I was about to lose. His hand once again touched my cheek, as amusement along with something else flashed in his eyes. "I win, love."

"Fine! You do. What do you want?" I questioned and there was an evil glint in his eyes. "A kiss." I could feel my face heating even more as I gaped at him before an idea popped in my head. I leaned in close and he closed his eyes but before my lips could touch his, I moved my head and placed a kiss on his cheek before sliding out of his grip.

I gave him a wide grin while he tried to process what just happened as his dark stare looked at me confused. I couldn't help but laugh out at his gobsmacked face. "That's cheating." He growled and I raised my brows. "It isn't cheating if there are no rules." I threw his words right back at him.

My moment was short lived before I was picked up bridal style and placed on the bed as he got on top of me. "I see my wife has got a mouth on her." He whispered darkly. Before I could say anything, he kissed me making all the thoughts leave my mind.

.....

The memory seemed so long ago, it was hard to believe that this was only a few weeks ago. How much had everything changed in so little time. I just wished everything would go back to normal but I knew I was just deluding myself.

I shook the thoughts away, I didn't need this right now. It was my best friends mehendi and I should be happy. Afterall this was the main reason I came to Pakistan.
