Shanna left the pilot room and found Law in his office. He was gazing out the small round window at the dark waters. "Law," Shanna said. "Why are we doing this?"
"If Whitebeard and the Straw Hat succeeds, they get out safely with the Fire Fist. But it's the marine headquarters we're talking about here. Thousands of marines already based there. Escaping won't be easy."
Shanna's eyes widened. "You're saying you wanna help Straw Hat Luffy and Fire Fist Ace escape?!" she exclaimed in disbelief. They only met Luffy once, and they don't even know the Fire Fist. Law never helps people out out of 'good heart,' so what's this all about?
"I thought you said you liked the Straw Hat," Law replied, crossing his arms while raising a brow.
"Well yeah, I think he's interesting for what he did back in Sabaody, but Law this isn't like you! You're putting the whole crew in danger!"
Law looked into Shanna's ocean blue hues. The girl was speaking like a vice captain for once, and he smiled. He was indeed risking the life of all his friends for the sake of two people he didn't even know. At the moment Law was questioning his own sanity as well. The Will of D. will almost certainly call up a storm again. Those were the words left to him by Corazon.
Trafalgar D. Water Law.
Houston D. Shanna.
Monkey D. Luffy.
Portgas D. Ace.
Law wasn't sure what Corazon meant by the Will of D. All he knew was that there was something about the bearer of the D. that made them special.
For the first time Law felt like he was acting on impulse. Just a myth he didn't even know the true meaning of, and yet he's putting everyone's life on the line for it.
"There's something you're hiding from me. From us," Shanna noticed.
Law fell into a silence. He stared at her for a long time, but Shanna had no clue what was going through his head. After a long while, Law placed a hand on her head. "Now's not the time," he said.
"W-When will be the time?" The question blurted out of her mouth as a natural response to Law's statement. She didn't know why she didn't choose to keep pestering him, but it just didn't seem right to do it. Law smiled gently at her, but he didn't answer. He simply patted her twice on the head, and left his office to check on how much longer it'll take to get to Marineford, leaving Shanna in the office on her own to ponder about what Law's true intentions are.
...
"Shanna-chan, are you coming?" Franky's voice snapped Shanna out of her thoughts.
"Huh?!" Shanna looked up. "Wait what the-" She gasped when she found herself standing in front a gigantic, brown, circular shaped building. Sounds of people cheering resonated from the inside. Nobody had to tell her for her to know that this was the infamous Corida Coliseum. "Whoa..." she muttered.
"Shanna-chan?" Franky called again.
"Y-You guys go ahead! There's something I need to make sure of! Contact me via transponder snail!" Shanna shouted at Franky as she turned around to leave. Franky called her name in confusion, but the girl didn't turn back.
She started to question Law's intentions back when she first say him on Punk Hazard, but she didn't have the time to think about those while she was trying to sort her feelings out about what had happened two years ago. Now she had the time to think. Shanna was never a thinker, for all she had to do was follow behind Law and do what he says, and whatever she felt like doing. However, she wasn't stupid. Shanna rarely had to think through complicated situations but she's perceptive enough to know when something is going on.
She slowed down as she walked through the busy streets of Dressrosa. She had no idea where she was going, but she didn't really care. Her mind was filled with the spotted hat wearing captain, who seemed to be keeping big secrets from her. He always kept secrets, which she speculated was something he learned from her mom. Her mom had secrets too, such as who her dad was, which pirate crew she used to be a part of, and why she quit.
Law had plenty of little secrets. Shanna wasn't sure if he told Bridgette anything, but Law always used her being too young, or the timing being not ripe, as a lame excuse to keep things from her.
In the end he never told her why he rescued Luffy from Marineford. The Heart Pirates came out unscathed, and with all the shit that happened afterwards between her and Law, she ended up forgetting about it. But now that she recalls everything, a lot of things don't make sense.
All those years, Law read the newspapers of the Grand Line religiously. His room was full of notes and newspapers stuck on the wall, evidence that he was plotting something. And this time, he appeared alone on Punk Hazard, without any members of his crew. He said he's planning to take down Kaido by destroying the SMILE factory, preventing the Yonko from creating any more Zoan devil fruit users. But why didn't he just kill Caesar? Why take Caesar here, and why force Doflamingo to quit the Seven Warlords?
"Law....what are you hiding?"
