We we’re sitting in a tree, me and Jake. Jake was sitting with his back on the trunk and I was lying on him. We were watching his younger sister playing in the park with some kids that moved in to my old house.

“Do you think she remembers me?” Jake asked in my ear.

“I don’t think so but we don’t want to test that.” I said to him.

“At least she looks happy.” He said a smile in his voice.

“Yeah I’m sorry my surprise had to come into your life.” I said for probably the 1000th time.

“Hey if it didn’t then we wouldn’t be together.” He said kissing the top of my head.

Suddenly we heard crying from the park. We looked to see that Abby was crying and the other kids were confused.

“What do you think happened?” Jake asked me.

“What is it Abby?” Asked one of the kids.

“You caught her.” She sobbed.

“Yeah that’s how the game works.” The same kid said.

“But she asked how you caught her.”

“Ok but I just wanted to know.” The child asked.

“But then she said ‘I heard you breathing.’” Abby sobbed.

“Yes and?” The other kids asked.

I stared at Abby thinking to myself ‘Forget forget forget’ and she stopped crying.

“Are you ok?” one kid asked.

“Yeah let’s play.” She said laughing. The kids became to play again.

“Did you do that?” Jake asked.

“She looked so hurt so I made her forget.” I said.

“I love you.” He said. I turned around and I kissed him and he kissed me back almost like the kissed that saved my life.
