I woke up early the next day kasi ang dami ko pang kailangang tapusin sa office. I just had a cup of coffee before leaving my condo and decided to just eat there once I arrived.
"Good morning, Sir."
I smiled as the guard did his routine everytime I arrive at the building. Like the usual, no one dared to join me inside the elevator pero tinawag ko yung mga nakapila. They all smiled shyly because of what I did.
"Good morning, Sir. Ano pong gusto niyong breakfast niyo?"
"Mamaya nalang ako kakain. You can now go."
The secretary leaved after what I said. I immediately finished all my pending works para hindi na ako mas lalong matambakan. All of my schedules for today will be after lunch kaya I kept myself busy during the whole morning.
"Sir, excuse me but Mr. David asked if you're coming later?"
"Yes. Please confirm."
I looked at the digital clock on my desk and noticed it is already 12:30 in the afternoon. I decided to go down to eat my lunch. As usual, the cafeteria was full of employees who are having their lunch.
"Good afternoon, Sir."
Napalingon ako nung may bumati sa akin at nakita si Carla. May hawak pa siyang tray na may pagkain kaya baka kakababa lang din niya para kumain.
"May kasama ka ba sa pagkain ngayon?" I asked her.
"Ah, wala naman."
I offered to eat lunch with her which she gladly accepts. Hindi 'yon ang inaasahan kong sagot sa kanya kaya medyo nagulat ako pero hindi ko nalang 'yon ipinakita sa kanya.
"How's your first week so far?" Tanong ko para may mapag-usapan.
"Hmm, so far so good. Mababait yung mga kasama ko sa department kaya hindi ako nahirapan mag-adjust."
I smiled with what she said. I'm happy she's not having a hard time adjusting and that she's doing well with her job.
"Sa weekend na yung hike namin. Hindi ka sasama?"
Napatingin ako sa kanya dahil sa tanong niya. I already forgot about their hiking adventure not until she mentioned it to me. I pursed my lips while thinking what should be my response.
"Uh, that I don't know."
She nodded and gave a small smile before finishing her food. Gusto niya ba akong sumama sa hiking nila or was that just for the sake of having a topic while we are eating?
"By the way, nakuha mo na ba yung sasakyan mo?" I asked her.
"Ah, oo. S-salamat nga pala ulit sa paghatid and I-I'm sorry for being stubborn last night."
I gave her a small smile before we finished eating our lunch. Yeah, sure she's such so hard headed and she always do things she wants ever since the first time I met her years ago. I wonder if she still can remember those days especially that one particular time she had to deliver coffee at my office.
Gusto kong tanungin kung naaalala niya pa ako.
"I'll go ahead. Thanks for accompanying me for lunch."
Ngumiti siya saka ako iniwan mag-isa. Natauhan lang ako ng biglang tumunog ang phone ko dahil sa text ng secretary ko.
"Get a hold of yourself Alex. Madami ka pang gagawin ngayon."
Lumabas na ako ng building at nakitang naroon na ang sasakyan na gagamitin ko papunta sa client meeting ko ngayon. Agad na akong sumakay sa likod at ang sekretarya ko naman ay umupo sa harap.
