"why is there a damn human in this house?" I wake up to shouting downstairs and take a few seconds to realise I'm in the dark kingdom and understand they are talking about me.

"you know what they did to us! "I stand up and start to walk out of the room and to where the shouting is, I had found some clothes in the draws last night, so now I'm in some leggings and an oversized tunic.

"I wasn't going to let her walk back through the mountains and wicked woods when she was freezing, she wouldn't have made it" I hear Evander's calm but firm voice when I'm on the stairs and can tell they are in the man room. "then you should have made it stay in a tavern" another voice says much colder than the previous, "and let her get taunted all night?" at this three-voice shout, "YES!"

I get to the room where they are and lean against the door with my arms crossed and they all turn to me.

A girl is sat down on the chair with her legs thrown over the side and glaring at me, she's a werewolf, then there a guy leaning against the fireplace with wings, Illyrian, then there two guys standing in front of Evander, one vampire and warlock? I can never tell the difference between human and warlock, but since there's no humans in this kingdom I'm assuming he's a warlock.

"oh, look it up" the girl in the chairs smirks at me whilst looking me up and down. "okay its morning you can leave" the warlock says to me standing inform of the vampire and glaring at me.

I smile and look to Evander, "thankyou of giving me a place to stay for the night" he nods his head once and I bite my lip debating whether I should ask.

"I knew it would want something humans always do" the Illyrian says with a scoff and sits down across from the werewolf girl who still hasn't took her eyes off me just like the rest of them, "what is it you want, and enchantment? A bite from a vampire or is it a bite from a werewolf you want?" I shake my head at the Illyrian.

"actually, I was wondering if any of you could read this?" I say and pull the dagger I had in the back of my leggings. "let me have a look" Evander syas and the others glare at him, I walk over and give hum the dagger, "this is the oldest language there is, it's what the old tribes would use" he syas inspecting, "do you know anyway to decipher it?" I ask hopefully but he shakes his head and I sigh in defeat, "why would a human like you want to decipher a dagger?"

I look to the warlock who is still in front of the vampire, like he's protecting him, then I realise I only heard three voices scream yes and he hasn't spoken yet.

Oh no, he's scared of me, he must have been one of the vampires hurt by humans when people started fearing them.

It was a dark and cruel story and one of the things I hate humans for most, its why they came to the dark kingdom because there were no humans who could fear them here but now, they fear us.

I swallow the lump in my throat, "it was my fathers, I just thought that if I could get it translated it could tell me who he is, my aunt thinks he came to the dark kingdom to hide from something but now I realise that he wouldn't exactly have been welcomed" I say more quietly at the end and my eyes go back to the vampire.

"I better get going" I end up whispering and turn back to Evander, "I'll get my things and go, thanks again for everything" I say and walk out and go to the room where I had stayed, I can't breathe, looking at that vampire just reminded me that these are the creature that everyone thinks are the bad guys but in actuality we are.

I get changed and put my hair up, I was planning to just walk out but realise my dagger is still with Evander and I groans internally.

I take a breath and walk back into where they all are, this time they are all sat down. "I left my dagger" I say and Evander pulls it out but keeps hold of it, "so your telling me, you went through the wicked woods, through the mountain and into a kingdom where you knew you wouldn't get the most pleasant welcome just to give a message that I haven't even read and to see if you could find your long lost farther." I shake my head, "yes I was sent to deliver a message, yes my aunt wanted to see if my father was here, but that was kind of for everyone else. I wanted to see the dark kingdom ever since I moved to my aunts farm and would look to the mountains every day."

I debate whether or not to tell them the next part, but I realise I'm not losing anything if I do, "I'm also told that I'm a lot like my mother, she saw every kingdom other than this one, I wanted to finish off her adventure I guess" they all sit in silence and my eyes go to the vampire again and he doesn't look as scared anymore, "I'm sorry for what humans did to you" his eyes instantly widen and the warlock stiffens next to him, "you know what your kind did to us?" I shake my head, "not everything, not everything was wrote into the books, they didn't even write down when the kingdom was closed off, it's like they didn't want people to know that they were the bad guys" I explain and he seems shocked at this, "there's a war isn't there?" the werewolf asks and I slowly nod, "the same threat from the great war has returned but this time the first body was found on the spring and day border" they all look to each other probably already planning to patrol the mountains, "the other high lords thought- they thought-" I struggle to say, "they thought we were behind it" I nod at Evander, "but I made them realise that they never actually found the guy behind the first attack and you had been the one to help in the first great war so why would you help the enemy return now? That's why they sent me, because they figured that if you saw that a human had defended you and understood you that you were more likely to help."

I finish and the Illyrian stands up looking stressed, "but you didn't even try to convince him" I shook my head, "I never planned to, I don't think you should" I say truthfully and Evander looks confused, "you helped them in the great war and whilst everyone got praised for it you guys got punished for being creatures that reminded people of the demons which understandably had you close your kingdom off and now after all this time they are finally willing to accept all of you because the old threat returning, I think its bullshit, if they thought they were better than you then, then they must be better than you now to defeat the threat without you" the girl chuckles.

"why were you even in that meeting?" she asks curiously, "my brother is Aarons best human guard and my best friend- Noah- is his best fae guard, and he's kind of like an older brother" they all nod and I see Evander looking like he wants to ask something, "he misses you, as much as he would hate to admit it, he still keeps and painting of you two in his room" I chuckle, "he use to tell me that he could barely even remember what you looked like but I knew it was a lie when I would explored the castle and found the painting" Evander nods and looks to the others who sigh and also nods.

"Aeron never hurt us the way the other kingdoms did, and if he allowed you to come and your truly that close to him then obviously he still trusts us" huh I never thought of it that way, "I will help, for him and for you" I frown and the vampire speaks, "you showed us that some humans have changed, we are not fighting to win people over we are fighting to protect those who think like you, for a better future" I smile and him, at how sincere and soft his voice is. "I may also know how to translate your dagger" he smiles slowly before he's up and dragging me out of the room leaving everyone else in as much shock as I am.
