"He's so dead to me when I find him."

Ruby clenched her fist as she gritted her teeth. For her lovely brother to be going to complete opposite way from herself. Oh, he wasn't getting away from this.

Chapter 3

Ruby spent a few days searching for Adam. During the day, she searched through the media and the books in an attempt to find any clues about Adam. During the night, she snuck out of her room and walked through the City of Vale, collecting information for herself. She always returned back to her room during dawn, which led to a lack of sleep for Ruby. She would be dozing off in her classes making her teammates worried about her.

"Ruby, you've been acting strange lately, are you alright?" Yang asked.

"I'm fine sis. I just have-urr-trouble sleeping these days."

"Why's that?"

"Eh, I don't know. But it'll probably get better soon, don't worry."

"If you say so... But let us know if anything's wrong, okay?"

"Okay."

Ruby nodded with a smile, only to be thinking completely opposite of what she had said. 'As if this is something I can tell anyone.' She thought to herself as she groaned internally.

~ A few days later ~

After a few more days of Ruby searching for Adam, apparently, the White Fang has gotten the information of a strange girl who would look for Adam every night for the past week and a half.

"So, there's a strange girl looking for me, you say."

"Yes, sir. We've been reported with cases of a small girl asking people if they knew a Faunus named Adam Taurus."

"Who's that brat?"

"We're not sure, sir. The girl has a red cloak over her, and no one has yet seen her face."

"... A red cloak?"

"Yes, sir. Oh, but don't worry, sir. We will make sure to find the brat and kill-"

"No. No. No need for that."

"I... I beg your pardon?"

"I will go meet the girl myself. Might as well see who's looking for me with such desire, now shouldn't I?"

"But, sir. She may be a spy or any other form of danger."

"Do not underestimate me! Now, I only have the slightest clue of who that is, but I doubt I will be losing to her."

"You mean you know who she is?"

"I have a good guess."

Adam smiled. And to the other Faunus' concern, it was not one of his typical maniac smiles. Instead, it was a smile filled with hope and desire. The Faunus reporting wondered if Adam had hit his head somewhere, but made sure he didn't say it out loud.

"Now, since I am in a good mood, leave now before I change my mind of ever deciding to show mercy to you."

"Yes, sir."

"Oh, one more thing. I'll send you an address. Make sure you let the girl know to come to that place tonight."

"... As you wish."

The Faunus left the room, and Adam sat on his chair with a grin on his face. A small girl with a red cloak looking for him. As far as he knew, there weren't many people with red cloak all over them. He knew someone with a red cloak that might want to look for him.

"She may not be dead, after all."

After years of searching for the girl, he has finally given up on all hope. And now to encounter news that she may be alive. Of course, it may not be someone who he was expecting, but he didn't mind. It wasn't bad to set his hopes high for once.

~ That night, Team RWBY's dorm room ~

Ruby has received an email from an anonymous sender that evening. It contained an address and time, but nothing else. But had a good guess of who it was from.

"Just as planned."

She has already expected some form of contact from the White Fang, so she wasn't exactly surprised. She already expected the White Fang to get information about her going around places to search for Adam, and that they wouldn't leave her alone for that. She didn't expect to find him with her own strength either. Actually, this was exactly what she had planned from the beginning. Make it obvious that she's looking for Adam, so White Fang would come into contact with her on their own.

Ruby clutched onto her baby, Crescent Rose, and let out a deep breath. She had to admit how nervous she was. She didn't expect Adam himself to show up. One of the members would probably show up, and they'd probably want to kill her at the spot or drag her all the way to Adam. She really hoped that they wouldn't decide to kill her right away because then things would get ugly.

"Here I go."

Ruby murmured to herself as she checked the sent address once again. And just like any other previous night, she snuck out of her team's room and headed to the address.

~ Street of City of Vale ~

The address simply led Ruby to one of the dark alleys of the City of Vale. Ruby approached the alley with her clock on, so her face wasn't so clearly visible. When she arrived, there was a figure leaning against the building's wall, waiting for Ruby's arrival.

When Ruby approached closer, the figure noticed her and stepped out into the light shined by the moon. The figure was a man, tall and fit. He had blood-red hair and a pair of black horns sticking out of it. The white mask showing he's a member of a White Fang member was a contrast to his black suit.

"Hello there. I've heard that there was a little girl looking for me. That must be you."

Adam started, but Ruby didn't reply.

"That red cloak... Now, little girl, I'm actually looking for someone, and I'm out here in the hope to find her. So, I'd like to check if you're that girl that I'm looking for."

The more he talked, the less he sounded like Adam that Ruby remembered. Ruby felt her heart being torn out at the way this guy talked. He wasn't the same person she remembered anymore.

"Get your hood off so I can see your face. If you're not the girl I'm looking for, I may have to kill you right here."

Silence.

Ruby sighed. Until now, she still had a slight string of wishes that her brother would have stayed the same. And that there may have been a misunderstanding with Blake. But now with the way he spoke, all her hopes were shattered.

"There's no need for that."

Ruby raised her arm and slid her hood down to reveal her face in front of Adam. Her hair seemed to be a little redder under the moon, and her silver eyes glowed like a moon itself.

"Hey, Adam. Long time no see."

A/N. Sorry for the late update! I'm a grade 12 student and it's quite hard to find the time to write up new chapters for my story, especially that I am trying to write up more than one chapter as a back-up.
