'Zoya wake up! You are going to be late' Eshal's thunderous voice echoed around the house. Zoya ignored her sister and proceeded to snuggle deeper into her blanket. She was about to drift off when her phone mercilessly started ringing next to her head. Frustrated, she got up and checked her phone. To her utter horror she had only 20 minutes left for her first lecture. She jolted up from her bed and ran to the washroom.

From her wardrobe she picked out a black oversized hoodie with some loose denim jeans. After changing into those she quickly wrapped a veil around her head. As she glanced towards the mirror a small 'ya Allah' escaped her mouth upon seeing her face. She had dark circles under her eyes and she looked sleep deprived. Zoya instantly regretted staying up late and watching Netflix. She quickly applied some concealer under her eyes, some mascara on her eye lashes and applied a clear lipgloss to moisturise her chapped lips. She was now ready to go and ran downstairs.

Everybody was already on the dining table having breakfast, seeing that she had barely 10 minutes left she picked an apple, bid her parents goodbye and left.

Luckily, she got a rickshaw on her way and she was now in front of her university gate. She saw his only best friend, Zain, waiting for her at the gate. He flashed her a bright smile due to which her heart fluttered and her cheeks turned a shade of pink.

Zain Aziz was Zoya's childhood best friend and now they both were at the same university. Zain was completing his last year at university while Zoya had 2 more years to go. He was tall (around 6ft) with a toned body that you could see even through the clothes. He had pale skin with blue ocean eyes. His hair was light brown and was clean shaven. He had a soft aura and people always wanted to be his friend. His personality was funny, goofy and he was a very kind person. Not to mention, being a gentleman added a cherry on top . Zain was always on Zoya's side and protected her throughout there lives. He never made new friends because Zoya knew she was all he needed as a best friend.

Zoya, on the other hand, was small and innocent. She had tanned skin, big brown eyes and black straight hair which were always covered with a veil. She knew she was short and skinny but had beautiful curves which she always used to cover. Her cute smile and soft baby skin was always her favourite.Zoya had been treated like a princess all her life, getting what she wanted. She wasn't a spoiled brat, instead she had the most amazing and kind soul.

She went and gave Zain a salam. They walked towards there classes and were chatting about the most random things. When Zain dropped Zoya in front of her class (he always did this as they both had different classes), Zoya was about to enter her class when Zain called her. "Kiya howa Zain?" She asked. Zain inhaled a deep breath and said "i want to tell you something important after class. Meet me in the cafeteria". Zoya was a bit confused as he never behaved like that but nodded and went to her class.

Her class ended and she immediately went towards the cafeteria. She was hungry as she didn't ate her breakfast earlier this morning. Zoya walked towards the cafeteria so she could pick out some snacks when she spotted Zain. He was sitting at one of the benches with his head resting on his hands. Zoya got a bit scared as she never saw him looking so dull and she immediately went towards him.

"Are you okay? Do you want something? Kuch khana hai? Mein la doun" Zoya bombarded him with questions. "Come sit here" he patted on the seat next to him. Zoya obeyed and sat on the seat. "Dekho, the thing I'll tell you is very important and you have to listen carefully" he said. "Yar Zain, don't scare me! Tell me what happened?" Zoya pouted. "I'm going to Canada"

"What the..ye kia bol rahey ho?!" Zoya exclaimed and shot up from her seat. "Relax..I'll explain. Betho tou" Zoya sat down and turned her head to the opposite direction of Zain. "Zoya listen to me! My mom is forcing me to go..and I don't have an option" "Mein wapis ajaoun ga sirf dou saal hee tou hain!" He continued.

Zoya couldn't take it anymore and tears started rolling down her cheeks, "Two years?! Zain you are my only friend here and you are going to Canada! How will i live all alone? How will i handle being alone for two whole years when I've never been separated from you since grade 4?! How could you do this Zain? Aik baar tou souchlo merey baaray mein! Am i nothing to you?" The last sentence came out as a whisper and Zoya was now sobbing.

Zoya couldn't do this. She cannot let his only friend leave her like this, all alone. He is the only one Zoya could open up to. But she knows, he doesn't have a choice here and he has to go. If he had the option to stay..he would've stayed no matter what, Zoya thought. Once Zoya calmed down she turned towards him " Zain I understand that you have your own life. I'm nothing but a mere friend. Your studies are more important...you should go. I won't stop you" Zain's heart broke into a million pieces upon hearing these words. Zoya was getting up and was about to leave when Zain held her wrist. " Zoya tum mujhe bohat aziz ho...aise alfaaz mat nikalo apnay moun se" A tear escaped from Zain's eye.

Zoya couldn't see him like this " Look I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say this. I got a bit emotional...I understand Zain. I know its hard for you too. So lets not make the situation even worse.... you can go I'll always support you" Zoya gave a huge smile and Zain returned it. "Now lets go or else I'll eat you. Im sooo hungryy" she pouted and dragged Zain towards the cafeteria.
