Merlin's diary

As you can tell from the title this chapter is gonna be Harry and Draco reading the book. It is just the diary, so it may be a short chapter.

'Entry one:

It has been one day since I received the mark. I have yet to find my partner, so the pain is building up. However, on a lighter note my abilities have started to show. So far I have seen various displays of elemental wandless magic, which i thought to be impossible. I have also the discovered the ability of wingless flight, which is most fun!'

Harry skipped a couple of pages.

'Entry Six:

I have found my partner. Thank the lord he is male, I don't think I could have lived with myself otherwise. Our powers have developed leaps and bounds since we met. We have discovered we can communicate telepathically, and in times of danger can combine our power through this link. Our animalistic tendencies have proved to be quite strong. If anyone nears us it triggers growls or barks, which is quite unusual.'

'Entry twelve:

We have discovered the meanings behind our runes! They link to the types of elemental magic we own. For instance my magic stems from the element earth, so I can control the wind and cause earthquakes and such. There are some runes that refer to us being 'protectors' or 'defenders', which refers to our strong bond and animalistic traits that cause a strong urge to protect our partner. A final rune translates to an animal, mine is a Griffin. we have yet to discover what this means.'

'Entry thirteen:

It has been a month since I last wrote down our findings. We have been forced into hiding by hunters tracking us for our magic. they intend to drain us of it and harness it for their own. This of course is completely impossible, but the process would most likely kill us, so we cannot risk getting captured. Since on the run, our instincts have taken over. We may have found out the reason for our animal rune due to this unexpected journey. We believe that this relates to the extent of our animal personality. For instance when my mate is threatened, I am quick to protect. I rarely back down from fights when in this state, which is a very prominent trait in Griffins: courage.'

Harry and Draco skimmed the rest of the book until they reached a very long entry towards the end.

'Entry one hundred and thirty five:

It has been a year since my mate has past. I have been unable to function properly since that day. We have been together almost 50 years, inseparable since we first met. We had been though many difficulties. But our experiences had allowed us to make changes in the law. I was the minister of magic for while and in that time I used my power to change the laws against half-breeds and hunting for half-breeds. Even though I wouldn't exactly class myself as a half-breed, but an entirely different species, many people with the soul mark felt they were a half-breed. Its horrible how afraid they are of themselves. I have met many young couples who wish to rid themselves of these marks. In doing this they reject their partners causing immense pain and suffering. I wish they could see themselves as I see them. Beautiful, amazing creatures who deserve the same treatment as any other witch or wizard. 

Alas I have seen the future of our kind. Despite my efforts to help bring this unforgiving world to its senses, our kind will be mercilessly hunted to extinction. Without my partner I know I will not last long. I will not live to see the great war that will wipe my kind out. But with this vision came a prophecy. A prophecy woven into the fabric of the universe. A pair of the most unlikely wizards becoming the most powerful Aeterni pair this world has ever, and will ever see. The Phoenix and Dragon. The most powerful of the ancient creatures, joined at the soul. They will rid the world of fear and war, and bring a new age of peace to the wizarding community. I only wish I could live long enough to see that day.'

I know its cliche, their relationship being literally woven into the fabric of the universe, but I couldn't help myself. I hope this all made sense, I wrote this in the midst of a migraine!
