I am awakened by bright light spilling into my room. I groan and roll over to face away from the light.
"Get up." A voice says from behind me.
I slowly roll back over to see who it is. When I see that it's Michelle, I immediately sit up.
"Is Eliza okay?" I ask, concerned. Michelle probably hates me now.
Michelle sighs. "She's fine. Just really exhausted."
I look down. "I'm so sorry about what I did to Eliza, I—"
"Nadia," Michelle interrupts. "You saved her life. I don't know what I'd do without you."
I smile slightly.
"Get dressed, school starts soon," Michelle demands, walking out of the room.
I let out a sigh of relief. She doesn't hate me.
I have a quick shower and put on an orange shirt and white jeans. First day of senior year. The year of getting your life together. I'm not looking forward to it. I put a bottle of blood in my backpack just, in case, and head downstairs.
When I get downstairs, I see Michelle waiting at the front door.
"Took you long enough," she says, rolling her eyes.
"It didn't take me that long." I glance at my phone. School starts in thirty minutes. Michelle glares at me and I shrug.
She opens the door for me and we walk out towards the car where Eliza is waiting in the passenger seat. I make my way into the backseat as Michelle slips into the front and starts the car.. The drive to school is very silent and awkward. After Michelle parks in the school's parking lot and lets us out, Eliza runs toward her group of many friends.I sigh as Michelle falls into step beside me.
"I hope we have some classes together," she says, trying to start a conversation.
"Same."
We make our way to the school's large cafeteria to pick up our schedules. I head to the line with my last name's letter and Eliza goes to her line.
As I'm waiting in line, a boy with dark brown hair and hazel eyes walks up to me,
"Hey, I'm um... Aiden," he says. I notice he has a slight British accent.
"Hey, I'm Nadia," I smile, having to crane my neck to look into his eyes.
He has a weird scent to him, kind of like a dog, but not the bad kind.
"I hope we have some classes together," he says before turning away and walking out of the cafeteria.
I can feel my legs start to go after him, but I stay still.
That was weird.
"Oh, looks like someone has a crush." I turn around to see Michelle behind me, her schedule in hand.
I roll my eyes. "Shut up."
She giggles as we wait in line for my schedule. When I get it, we walk over to the doors of the cafeteria and compare our schedules. We have periods one, two and five together.
"Let's go!" Michelle exclaims, pulling me out of the cafeteria.
The bell rings for first period and she drags me through the halls to our classroom. When we walk in, We notice that the teacher isn't here yet. We shrug and go take a seat at two of the farthest back desks in the classroom. After we sit, I notice Eliza is at a desk in the front of the class, sitting up straight and puffing out her chest.
