"Thank you for helping us though, truly. I saw how busy you were in London last month."

"Well, yes...Jane and I parted since we realised the love we shared was merely fates method of ensuring that life would be preserved and Malekith, the dark elf, would be defeated." I couldn't deny the leap my heart made. "I've been maintaining peace between the realms while preparing to become King. Speaking of peace, has Stark sent you the information about that HYDRA base in Nagasaki?"

"No, not yet. Have you still not managed to find Loki's sceptre?"

"Unfortunately not, I think the plan is to search every base we can find until we uncover it."

"Yes, it needs to back on Asgard...well this is the Gateway of Hermes." I said as we reached the end of the vast bridge. I held out my hand for him to hold, "You'll be lost to the Abyss if you don't go with an Olympian."

He grasped his large hand into my smaller one and we stepped through the portal.

"Well, that's certainly more efficient than the Bifrost," Thor mused but I was hardly paying attention due to the state of the village.

In the entrance, our beating hearts were the only beings of warm blood and flesh. The familiar buildings had now become ruins of the past. The sunlight fell across the wounded villagers who sat among the destruction.

"Selene, daughter of Artemis," sneered a voice ahead of me as Thor and I tended to a small family by the roadside.

I spun around to see Bia, the Goddess of Violence. Her dark, wild eyes tearing me apart on the spot. In one of her arms was Mrs Kalista, held captive.

"Oh not this bitch again," I groaned, looking up to the heavens in exasperation. "Let Mrs Kalista go!" I demanded, setting my sights on the horror she had caused across my village. "You have caused enough destruction, it is me you want, not her."

With a scoff, she tossed the elderly lady onto the pavement and drew her sword. She charged at me, sword high in the air. I blurred my eyes to picture the glow of the misty moon settled in the night sky and flicked my wrists towards her, sliver wisps drew around her before she gained on me. With another flick, a deafening CRACK sounded and she laid on the floor with her neck bent at an unnatural angle.

"Have I told you how brilliant you are?" Thor said as we hurried towards the injured Mrs Kalista.

"Yes, but thank you." I said as I dropped to one knee and held Mrs Kalista's bleeding head. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, dear. Thank you for saving me." She said in slight awe of seeing me use my powers for the first time.

"Of course," I smiled and got up to hurry to my father but as I rose, my head spun and I drooped into Thor's arms.

"Selene, you must be exhausted," he said, propping me up.

"I am but we must make sure everyone is okay first," I said and we set off to find my father.

The state of the restaurant was enough to make me pass out in horror.

The tall beams holding up the wooden canopy had splintered down, fragments sticking out ready to puncture anyone who got near. The wide, open windows shattered among the chips of wood. The chequered table cloths had been crushed by the broken tables and chairs under the canopy. Beautiful, bright flowers that lined the beams had scattered, leaving an array of petals to settle on the ruins.

It was a haunting sight.

Thor and I pushed through the wreckage, coughing on the sawdust that hung through the air to get into the restaurant.

I dropped to my knees and my hands shot to my aching chest. My watery eyes set sight on my father's bloodied body lying on the stone floor.

"No, no, no, no, no," I pleaded, crawling towards his still body. My trembling hands held his cold face. I pulled his limp head onto my lap and my tears dripped onto his face. "Gods, why!" I cried, looking into his lifeless eyes as my chest heaved with the weight of the universe.

Tears begun to flow unapologetically down my ruddy cheeks, flooding down my neck. My throat closed as my emotions chocked my entire body as if I were drowning in my own tears, I wished I did, I'd be with him again.

I felt Thor's strong arms pull my shaking body into his own and he begun to rock me back and forth as I continued to sob hysterically. I frantically wipe at my tears as I tried to get out of Thor's grip but I only started to hyperventilate when I saw the painted mess on my hands that I spread onto my face from the wound in my father's head.

"He can't leave me. He can't. I can't live without him. I don't want to live without him." I wept, hitting Thor's chest feebly.

My body eventually gave up. After exhaustion from the fight and my tears, I stopped blubbering and sat silently staring my father as Thor continued to gently sway me.
