Chapter 9: Girls Talk

Start from the beginning

Shanna nodded. "You're right Robin. I was definitely the one who over reacted. I threw a tantrum and left, blaming all of my pain on him, even though he wasn't the one at fault." Her eyes felt a little watery again. "I guess I am still such a kid...."

"No, Shanna," Nami wrapped her arms around the girl. "That's not true. Anyone would react that way. I'm sure if it were me I would've done the same thing."

"Well, what now? It's pretty clear to me Law still wants you back on his crew." Robin started taking off her coat as the temperature started to rise as they left Punk Hazard.

Shanna started fidgeting. There was a stinging sensation in her eyes. She let out a soft groan, and rubbed her eyes a little. "I...don't know. I'm still a little confused, and a little overwhelmed," she said. "I went traveling around the world hoping to get over my feelings for him, but when I see him again first thing he tells me is he loves me. And it just feels like he's trying to toy with me..... And that's kind of infuriating."

Nami crossed her arms. "That's unforgivable! Toying with a young girl's heart like that! I knew that guy was no good!" she huffed.

Robin, however, seemed to share different opinions. Being the eldest of the three, she could see somethings the younger girls couldn't. "What if he actually likes you back?" Robin asked. "Would you go back?"

"I-.....I don't know...." Shanna's eyes looked genuinely lost. There's a part of her that got used to Law rejecting her, to the point she couldn't imagine what it's like for him to like her back. If she were to live her whole life attempting to make Law like her back then she probably would. At some point early on she thought there was mutual attraction, and she tried her best to make him admit he was attracted to her. Now, however, she could only think of it as her own imagination.

Nami patted Shanna on the shoulders. "You know what? I think you're just tired from everything that's happened. I mean I don't know about you but I'm beat after all that Punk Hazard commotion, and you must be extra exhausted after all that emotional ride. How about you take a nap, calm down, and think things through on your own? Maybe then you come to an answer!"

"That sounds like a plan." Shanna smiled at Nami gratefully. Nami and Robin got changed into some clean clothes, and quickly left the room. Shanna took off the coat she was wearing and plopped down on the hammock in the room.

She thought back to her conversation with Law in Caesar's lab. I don't like kids, but I like you.

"Liar," Shanna mumbled as she closed her eyes. Soon the exhaustion seemed to catch up to her, and she was out cold.

On the deck, Law finished talking to Doflamingo on the transponder snail. When he walked over to the rest of the Straw Hats, Luffy was asking Nami where they were headed next. He quickly informed them that they were headed for Dressrosa.

Upon Zoro's and a few other people's confusion, Luffy and Law explained the alliance. After they announced the alliance, Law asked, "Hey, where's Shanna?"

"She said she's a little tired, so she's sleeping in the bedroom right now," Robin explained.

"I see," Law peeked at the room Robin pointed at. He then filled the rest of the Straw Hats in about the plan to take down Kaido, and a little bit about the underground community, as well as Doflamingo's role in that community. During his explanation, he took multiple glances at the room Shanna was supposedly sleeping in, and that didn't go unnoticed by Robin.

After the briefing was over, Robin changed the subject. "Hey, Tra-guy. I somewhat have an idea what happened between you and Shanna-chan, so for her sake I want to make sure." Her eyes narrowed at Law. Their gazes met, and Law saw an unexpected malice coming out of Robin's eyes. "Just what is she to you?"

Nami immediately looked towards the black haired captain, waiting for his answer with a serious look on her face. The males of the Straw Hats, on the other hand, were caught by the unexpected question, but were confused as to why Robin was asking such a question.

Law didn't break his eye contact with Robin. "In the past I thought of her as a little sister. Now I think of her as the woman I love."

Robin locked gazes with Law for what seemed like an eternity. She couldn't quite read the look in Law's eyes. He seemed a genuine, and yet a little desperate, and maybe a bit scared. He looked as if he was expecting something, but at the same time afraid of something. He doesn't seem to be lying. "That's all I needed to know." Robin looked away.

Unexpectedly, Law stood up, confusion written on his face. "That's it? You don't think have anything else to say?"

"What do you want me to say?" asked Robin.

"Shanna is eight years younger than me. When I started liking her, she was still an under-aged kid. Do you not find it repulsive?"

"Why?" Luffy's voice cuts in, everyone turned to the captain of the Straw Hats. The boy was leaning on the pole of the main sail, and he looked at Law with his big innocent looking eyes. "Why would that be repulsive?"

"Well that's-"

"I don't think it's a problem at all, falling in love with someone significantly younger than you, I mean." Nami cuts Law off. "I mean in the first place, love isn't something you can control."

Zoro was next to say something. "I don't really understand what's going on, but it's fine, isn't it? She seems to like you as well."

"Yohohoho! I'm 90 years old and I still like young girls! Speaking of which, Nami-san, can I see your panti-" Brook was interrupted by a smack on the head.

"It seems like you were worried about something trivial." Robin smiled.

"I'm a reindeer but I still like humans too!" Chopper said.

"Love is superrrr miraculous!" Franky added.

"I mean I've also been liked by plenty women significantly older than me," Usopp lied.

Sanji pulled the cigarette out of his mouth, and exhaled. "No matter what age, ladies are ladies. It is a gentleman's job to fall in love with the lady."

Law stood wide eyed at the group of people before him. They all stared at him with eyes of acceptance and understanding. He even saw a hint of boredom out of Zoro's eyes, as if his problems were the most trivial thing to ever grace Zoro's ears. At that moment Law was at a loss for words. All of their words started replaying in his head, over and over again.

It was Robin who snapped Law out of his trance. With a pat on his shoulder, Law finally came to, and he looked at Robin, who smiled gently at him. "She doesn't hate you, just a little confused that's all. Give her some time, don't rush her. I'm sure she's still in love with you as well."

"I know that without you telling me...." Law muttered. However, unbeknownst to the Surgeon of Death, he was smiling. Whether he's smiling because of the unexpected acceptance and encouragement or because of the confirmation that Shanna still likes him is unknown. But all the members of the Straw Hat crew can tell that Law is in an incredibly good mood right now.
