chapter fourteen

Chapter Fourteen.

I am a broken teenage girl, can I have some help?

“Hey Kat, we found a rose in the trash can, can you believe?….” Sabrina twitted, before

stopping straight in her tracks, her eyes growing larger and filling with tears. “Oh my Jeez! Anthony!”

She screamed running to the opposite side I was on and grabbing his hand. “What happened?”

she sobbed. But I just couldn’t answer, my lips couldn’t move, they didn’t work. Everything that I ever

was, is gone now, died along with Anthony. I shook my head and moved Anthony’s head off my lap

and lying down besides him, I moved his arms around my body and rest my head on his still chest.

His body was still warm, but not it’s usual heat that made me want to hug him more. I can’t believe

it, Nicolette, now Anthony? Why did this happen to us! WHY! My tears ran out of my eyes. I heard

Mike and Kaydon shuffle to my side and pat my arm, whispering words of comfort. “Anthony’s in a

better place now,” Mike whispered but his words were caught in a sob. Kaydon ran his fingers

through Anthony’s hair and looked over his body. “His legs are broken, what happened Kat, you

need to tell us.” he urged, staring at the lumps in Anthony’s skin through his jeans. I couldn’t say

anything, I just closed my eyes and let the thought’s of me and Anthony wash over me. Scenes of

our childhood washed over me, then him asking me to be his girlfriend, If only he asked be before

the party. We could’ve skipped and went to the movies, he wouldn’t be dead right now. 

“Kat we need to go,” Kaydon whispered, wiping some tears from my cheeks before stand and

pulling the sobbing Sabrina along with him. “We need to bury him,” Sabrina said but it was all

broken. Mike stood up too tugging on my arm to go, “No time, we need to find one more, than we

can go to the next room.” He breathed, I felt his tears drop onto my arm. I shook my head again not

wanting to leave. “Let… me… stay…. And die…. With him….” I managed to choke out. “Kat we know

you love him, we all loved him, but we need to move on, I know for sure as hell that he’d want us to

move on and live a life for him,” Kaydon said weakly, but for all I knew that was the truth. It’s just I

can’t tell right from wrong anymore, everything hurt so badly, I wish we just climbed up the

rollercoaster stairs, instead of riding it. I shook my head again, clinging onto Anthony as long and

hard as I could. 

Mike pulled at the top of my fore arms and pulled me, well um, more like dragged me across

the grass as best he could, thought I know it hurt him to leave Anthony also. “Let me go! Let me go!

Let me die with Anthony!” I kicked and screamed as if I was being kidnapped. Mike in response just

wrapped his arms around my upper body. Pulled me away. “Let me die with Anthony,” I sob, finally

lowering my voice and putting my face in my hands. “Please,” I whispered, before Mike pulled me

up in his arms and carried me away. “Everything is alright, let’s find that last rose and go home,”

Mike whispered in my hair.  I sudden knew what Mike must’ve felt earlier when Nicolette was

dragged away, but the difference is that I was able to hold Anthony before we left, he had no choice.

“I know where the rose is, but your going to have to get it, You’re the smallest,” He whispered and

continued to walk away from Anthony’s body. I pushed up against Mike’s shoulder to look back at

Anthony’s body. The earth underneath him crumbled away and soon he was completely swallowed

by the soil, leaving no trace of him but the glint of shiny blood. “Put me down,” I whispered, and

mike set me onto my feet. I paced by Kaydon and Sabrina how looked at me worried, mike came up

besides me. “Over there,” Mike pointed at a small mound of dirt sticking out besides a thin oak tree.

“I saw it in the hole, but Kat’s the only one who can fit,” Mike explained, his voice still slick with tears.

“Ok,” I mumbled, before dropping to my knees and crawling in. I vaguely, heard the scream of

Kaydon behind me before a swirl of mist and colourful streaks engulfed me.
