Coming back to Paasmut was almost a relief. Getting back on the ground and back with Dy's parents was oddly like coming home. Living in the old factory with the rooms only made up by hanging blankets and hard beds. Sitting in a circle with Huck's and Dy's families, eating communal dinners and sharing experiences. Stories about what had happened on our travels and what had happened back here.

"We've cut off the capital completely. They only get provisions from Skyen but even that is limited," Makaja said.

"So we're basically starving them?" Huck asked and scratched the back of his neck.

"No, we have enough resources to last us a two-year-siege. My father was many things, but he was never stupid. He had lived through several wars in his life and he knew it could happen again. So there's a law about preserving resources in case of a siege," I chimed in and got myself another serving of that magnificent soup, Huck's mum had made for us.

"That's good for the people at least," Huck said and put his bowl down. "We don't wanna hit them in all of this."

"We're not the ones doing this though. They started it. Whatever happens to the people is their doing," Dy said.

I glanced up at her. "You don't think we carry a responsibility?"

"Do you carry the responsibility for everything that has happened to you?"

"Are we doing this for revenge?"

"Watch this, they'll get all political the both of them and it's so entertaining to watch. Especially because they somehow always make up and come to some sort of agreement." Huck grinned at me and Dy and we both shared a look.

Did we really get into these kinds of discussions that much?

"Girls," Pilu, Dy's father said softly. "This is war. So far there has been very few casualties. It will not continue that way." He ran a hand through his icy blonde hair and sighed deeply. "What happens cannot weigh you down. You didn't start this, but we're all finishing it."

"Al, uhm

"Al, uhm..." Dy said as we were getting ready for the day.

"Yes?"

"I'm... Gonna shave my head. Today. Like half my head? And I'm getting more tattoos too." She was fidgeting like she was nervous. Why was she nervous?
