Ahsoka

Ahsoka's heart felt like it was breaking into a million pieces as she and Rex finished burying the men of the 501st on the isolated moon that they crashed on. Ahsoka felt numb. Her mind could barely process what had just occurred, she had no idea how she and Rex had managed to survive. The clones had turned against her, the men she had fought beside for years. It didn't make any sense to her, Rex had told her that the entire grand army of the Republic had been programmed to hunt down and kill the Jedi... but why?

Her heart clenched around the spot where Anakin Skywalker had been. She had sensed her master slipping away through the force while aboard the cruiser, but where was he now? Had he been executed by the clones, or was he able to escape as she had? What about Master Kenobi, Master Plo, And Master Yoda? What about all of the other Jedi and force sensitive children in the galaxy? She looks down at her lightsabers. The weight of them felt so natural in her hands, so comforting. She knew she had to leave them behind, she had to make it appear as she had been killed, for the sake of her survival. But Anakin had just given them back to her. It was all she had left of the Clone Wars, of her connection to her master, to the Jedi, but she knew that there was no going back, that was all over now.

She grips her lightsabers one last time, and just as she was about to let them go forever, Rex yells out to her, running toward her. "Commander!", he calls, "you've got a transmission. It's from senator Amidala, it seems important".

Padmé, she thinks as she clips her lightsabers back to her belt, just incase, she says to herself, I hope she's alright I haven't seen her since leaving the order. Maybe she knows something about Anakin.

Ahsoka couldn't help but run to the ship, with built-up nerves and excitement about speaking with her old friend again, someone who had taught her so much and looked up to greatly. Once aboard the ship she saw the hologram for herself, it was Padmé. Her expression was one of great solemn and worry, but Ahsoka noticed something else as well. She was pregnant.

Ahsoka and her master were closer than most, they knew each other extremely well and it was often hard to keep secrets from one another. Ahsoka also spent a great amount of time with Padmé, and it didn't take her long to realize that the two had more of an emotional connection than just friends. She never brought it up to Anakin before, however, she hinted it to Padmé once after she found the pair embracing moments after he had saved her life. Ahsoka sensed that this baby belonged to Anakin as well.

"Ahsoka", Padmé breathes, "I am so glad to see you are safe".

"You too Padmé, It's been too long". Ahsoka replies with a small smile.

"I need your help, it's Anakin. Something terrible has happened" Padmé exclaims.

Ahsoka's breathing hitches for a moment, fearing the worst. "What is it, what happened? Has he been killed? She asks frantically.
"No", Padmé pauses, "Ahsoka, Anakin has turned to the dark side. Obi-Wan just told me that Palpatine is the Sith Lord that the Jedi had been looking for all these years, Anakin has become Palpatine's new apprentice".

Ahsoka gasps. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her compassionate, overprotective, humorous master would never turn to the dark side. She had witnessed an anger deep within him before, but his love and compassion for others had always outweighed the darkness. What could have happened to make him fall so far?

"It can't be, how could this be true?" Ahsoka feels herself kneeling down and then Rex's hand on her shoulder, comforting her. Maul was telling the truth on Mandalore after all, she thinks to herself.

"Ahsoka I need your help to reach him, we must hurry if we are to get to him in time. I have to speak with him, and I believe if you're there too we can pull him back into the light, together" Padmé pleads.

Ahsoka looks up at Padme, "of course", she replies.

"Thank you Ahsoka", Padmé breathes in relief, "He's on Mustafar, I'll send you coordinates to meet so that we can go together".

The hologram disappears and Ahsoka looks to Rex. They had been through so much together in the past few hours and having him beside her was comforting.

"I can't believe that General Skywalker could've done this" he sighs looking down.

"I know," Ahsoka says to her friend putting her hand on his shoulder, "but it may not be too late to make things right".

The two give each other a sad smile before entering the coordinates and taking off into hyperspace.
