Tim arrived on the scene with his newly cemented partner. Actually, I suppose you couldn't say completely new. She was his trainee before she became his partner. He undid his seatbelt, opened his door and stepped out of the car onto the damp street.

He let out a sigh and shut the door behind him. His partner appeared at his side with her usual upbeat personality missing. I suppose this call would suck the air out of any police officer though. They rounded the car and walked over to the yellow tape where an officer greeted them.

"Detectives" The officer said nodding.

"What have we got?" Tim asked.

"Officers heard a gunshot and made their way over here to assess the situation, that's when we found him" The officer said.

"Found who?" Lucy asked as we walked over to the victim.

"According to his wallet, the name is Rafe Cameron" The officer stated.

"Ok, I'll let you know if we need anything more" Tim said dismissing the patrol officer.

Soon after the officer nodded and disappeared, Lucy began poking around the scene looking for evidence while I inspected the body. The deceased lay on his stomach and the blood was pooling out from underneath him.

"See anything Chen?" Tim asked.

"Nothing pops out besides the dead body" Lucy said.

Tim rolled his eyes and motioned for the body to be rolled over.

The crime scene investigators gripped the body and rolled him over. There was a thump as he landed on his back. Eyes scanned the new side of the body for additional clues. The bullet wound was located right on the heart. An instantaneous death.

"Tim? I found something" Lucy said.

"What is it?" Tim asked turning to her.

Lucy didn't say anything and just held the newly discovered evidence up for Tim to see. A single white USB drive with droplets of the victims blood on it.

"It must have been under him and revealed itself when we rolled him over" Tim stated.

"Ok but you know what this means right?" Lucy said looking at him.

Tim returned her look with a hardened stare.

"It has to have been The Sa-" Lucy tried to speak but Tim grabbed her shoulder.

With his grip on Lucy's shoulder, Tim pulled her over to part of the alleyway where the rest of the police officers wouldn't hear them. Once he surmised no one would hear them, Tim removed his hand from her shoulder.

"Ow Tim" Lucy said rubbing the spot where he let go.

"Sorry" Tim muttered a weak apology.

Lucy gave him a pointed look.

"Ok, I'm sorry, won't happen again" Tim said.

Lucy sighed and gave his shoulder a little bump with her fist to let her know that she was alright. Sensing no one was in earshot, Tim spoke candidly.

"Listen, I know who you think did this but we can't jump to that conclusion just yet" Tim said.

"What? But this definitely confirms it was them!" Lucy objected holding up the USB.

"Luce, I just, you know what will happen if we say it was them" Tim said.

Lucy knows what is brewing in his mind when he starts calling her Luce. A nickname sure, but also one that conveyed that he was worried.

"...... so what should we do?" Lucy asked.

"Look, we'll keep it on the down low for now until we're completely sure, ok?" Tim said.

"Fine but I'm not letting this go" Lucy said crossing her arms.

"I know you won't" Tim said with a huff.

Lucy flashed a smirk before the officer from before called them back over.

"Yeah?" Tim asked.

"We might have something" The officer said.

"What is it?" Lucy asked eagerly.

The officer motioned for one of the crime scene investigators to come over.  They approached with an evidence bag in hand. The investigator handed it to the officer who then handed it to Tim. Tim held the bag up to get a better look at it.

"Where did you find this?" Tim asked.

"Next to a dumpster at the entrance sir" The investigator said.

"What is it Tim?" Lucy asked.

"It appears that someone dropped their wallet" Tim said.

"Who's it belong to?" Tim asked.

"The license inside belongs to a man named Shayne Topp" The officer filled in.

"Do they have a connection to Mr. Cameron?" Lucy asked.

"We don't know yet" The officer said.

"Ok, thanks" Tim said turning to face Lucy completely.

Seeing as they were no longer needed, the officer and crime scene investigator moved back towards the body to collect more information.

"This is huge" Lucy said.

"It's a step in the right direction" Tim said downplaying it.

"We could have just found the killers identity, their identity" Lucy stressed.

"Slow down, we don't know anything yet" Tim said.

Lucy geared up to launch into another argument but Tim shot her his signature 'let it go' look and she visibly deflated. Tim took the evidence bag and stuffed it into his inner coat pocket.

"Let's take a ride back to the station and we'll discuss it more when we get there" Tim said.

"... fine but you're buying me a coffee on the way" Lucy said beginning her walk back to the car.

"Sure but none of that fancy caramel whipped Frappuccino stuff" Tim stated following her.

Lucy rolled her eyes but a smile betrayed her annoyed facade. For someone who despised her, as he called it, fancy bullshit coffee, he always seemed to remember her exact order every time. Tim usually put out a gruff persona to everybody but, Lucy knew it was just an act compared to what he was really like.

Training under and later working alongside Tim Bradford taught Lucy all she needed to know about police work but she also learned a lot about her partner Tim Bradford.

Tim opened Lucy's door for her and shut it after she was seated. He then made his way around the car back to his side and got in the drivers side. As he was buckling his seatbelt he pushed the start button and the car roared back to life.

Tim's hand gripped the gear stick and moved them into drive. He drove off and rested his right hand on the console. Lucy looked out the window and subconsciously rested her hand on top of Tim's. Tim laced their fingers together and fiddled with the black rubber ring that adorned Lucy's hand.
