Chapter one- Goodbye, Berk

Hiccup's pov

"...leaving. We are so leaving. Come on bud. We are taking a vacation. Forever." I say, packing some of my stuff into a bag. I hear the rustling of leaves behind me. "Toothless. Quick, hide!!" I whisper. I run back and see Astrid sharpening her axe. "uh-uh-um a... Astrid! It's Astrid! Hi-hi Astrid! What are you doing here?" I stuttered. "I want to know what's going on. No one just gets that good as you do. Especially you. Start talking! Are you training with someone?" she took a step forward with every sentence. I took a step back with every sentence. "training?!" I asked, still stammering. "it better not involve this?" "I know this looks bad, but you see..." a twig snaps behind us. "this is, uh... You're right! You're right! You're right. I'm through with the lies! I've been making...outfits. So, you got me. It's time everyone knew. Drag me back. Go ahead. Drag me back." I said as she looked around for the source of the sound. She bent my hand around my back, producing an audible cracking sound and forced me on the ground. "OW!!! Why would you DO that?!?!?" "that's for the lies." She answered.

Then she kicks me to the ground and drops her axe on me. "and that's for everything else." Toothless roars from behind. "oh, man." I groan. Toothless runs towards her. I start to get up, only to be pushed down by Astrid. She gasps, "get down" she rolls away "Run! Run!" Astrid pulls her axe, ready to take on Toothless. I run between both of them. "No. It's okay! It's okay..." Toothless pulls up short and lands hard, spraying Astrid with sand. "She's a friend." Toothless snorts in disagreement. Astrid is frozen. Toothless looks from her to me and back to her, confused. "you just scared him." "I SCARED HIM?!?! WHO IS 'HIM'?!?!" she says. "Astrid, Toothless. Toothless, Astrid." Astrid backs away, eyeing me and Toothless together pure disgust. She turns and runs for the village. I mimic a fanfare. "we're dead." Toothless walks away, clearly satisfied that she went. "whoa, whoa, whoa! Where do you think you're going?"

She, while running, looks behind to see if we are following her. She was right we are. But we were on top of her head. We flew and caught her when she jumped on a tree. She starts to scream very loudly and when she notices how high we are, she clings to Toothless's leg. I wince. We fly towards the tallest tree and put her there. "Hiccup! Get me down from here." "you have to give me a chance to explain." "I am not listening to anything you say." "then I won't speak. Let me show you." I plead, extending my arm towards her. "please Astrid." She climbs up and cautiously sits on Toothless's back, who growls. She hits my lingering arm away while she does. "now get me down." I turn towards Toothless. "Toothless, down. Gently." I added as an afterthought. He slowly spreads his wings.

Toothless's pov

The blonde girl climbs my back while I growl at her. Hiccup had told me all about every Viking on Berk. And I knew Norse and English. Every word of it. I knew all about Hiccup's life on Berk, how everyone had mistreated him, bullied and ostracised him, how only his blacksmith teacher had cared about him, how his mom died, his dad had removed him from his life after his tenth birthday because he was a runt, a weakling. "Toothless, down. Gently." I grinned, mentally, and spread my wings. Oh, this was going to be so much fun. "see, nothing to be afraid of." Hiccup told blondie. Wait for my hatchling, I'll give little miss blondie so any things to be afraid of. I shot up towards the sky, while they screamed. "Toothless, what is wrong with you?! Bad dragon!" Hiccup scolded me. I merely grinned. Blondie was almost falling off. I stable myself, while she grabs onto Hiccup. He nervously laughs "he's – he's usually not like this." Oh really. I drop down to the ocean and do some barrel rolls. "Toothless what are you doing we need her to like us." He tells me. No, Hicc, You need her to like you. I am totally fine if she hates my guts. I shot up, start spinning down. "and now the spinning. Thank you for nothing you useless reptile." Well, I will not stop until this miss screaming death who is riding me apologizes. "okay, okay. I'm sorry. I'm sorry! Just get me off of this thing."
