"If you are wondering why I chose him as my champion is that he is similar to Jaune and by that Kyle is brave, caring, understanding, and willing to risk his life to protect someone even if he doesn't know them. Now let us continue watching."

The scene shows Kyle at the docks of Vale shedding a tear at a memory of him failing a city in Mistral as well as shedding tears for the little girl he couldn't save.

Ligers sighs and explains what happened to Kyle in Mistral. "You see Kyle was staying in a town in Mistral until it got overruned by Grimm and in the process a little girl that Kyle helped was killed as well as everyone else in the town," Ligers said sadly.

Team RWBY looked back to the screen and felt bad for Kyle and decided to be silent and continue to watch the screen.

As Kyle said that Glynda and some of the guys in the room just dropped their jaws and looked at Ligers.
