They walked in silence down to the beach and sat down by the water. Millie straight in the sand and Andrew on a towel that he had brought. Before going to the beach they had stopped and bought some lunch. The silence continued as they both ate and glanced at the waves that peacefully rolled into the shore.

"Since my mom wants us to get to know each other, how about some questions?" Andrew asked.

"Sure." Millie sighted.

"You wanna go first, or...?" Andrew trailed off.

"You can go." Millie said and felt pathetic. Why did it have to be so tense?

"What is life here like all year around?" Andrew asked after a moment of silence.

Millie took her time thinking about her answer.

"Lonely." she finally replied. She could feel Andrew's eyes on her, but she continued to look at the waves. "I am the only one around my age and there are only locals here and the businesses are running slow when the seasonal guests aren't here." The silence fell over them again before Millie asked her question. "How's your life in New York?"

"Lonely." he said, copying her answer. "Don't get me wrong, I do have friends. A lot of them. But none of them are as real as the ones I meet here in the summer. And everyone back there are so fancy and selfish."

"I've never been to New York. I've never been outside of Coast Blue, except for Hollmark." Millie admitted. "I've only seen it in Gossip Girl and stuff."

Andrew chuckled. "My friend Charles, is a real life Chuck Bass. He gets all the ladies and has tons of money. Most of my friends actually act like they do in that show." Millie couldn't help but chuckle herself. "You should go there though. It's a pretty amazing city." Andrew said.

"One day." Millie still had her gaze on the waves.

Andrew suddenly began removing his shoes and socks.

"What are you doing?" Millie asked.

"I want to feel the water." Andrew shrugged.

"It's March. It's freezing." Millie said as a matter of fact.

"I'm still going in." he said and stood up. He began to walk towards the water.

"I'm telling you it's not going to be worth it." Millie shouted after him.

She giggled when he encountered with the water and she watched him jump when he realized how cold the water actually was. He even let out a scream. He looked like he was about to come back to where she was sitting, just as a huge wave rolled in and made him fall. Millie burst out laughing as he was now drenched in cold water.

He returned to her, his teeth chattering. He grabbed his towel and wrapped it around himself. Millie tried to resist the urge, but temptation defeated her.

"I hate that I have to say this but: I told you so." she mocked and did her best at keeping her face straight, but failed and broke into a huge grin.

Andrew huffed and continued to chatter his teeth. He sat back down next to her. "The adventure of the day." he muttered and Millie giggled again. "Next question." he then said. "Who was your first boyfriend?"

Millie hated that question. It meant that she had to admit that she had never had a boyfriend.

She turned her attention back to the water again. Andrew was clearly waiting for her answer.

"I've never had a boyfriend." she admitted with her gaze straight forward. Andrew had his gaze on her. "Nor a kiss." she added for no reason at all. They fell back into a silence. Millie with her eyes forward and Andrew with his eyes on her.
