Chapter 60

After Remi was healed, Elaine went to heal Isen, hoping that she still have enough leftovers from her energy. Countless questions popped in Elaine's mind, and she couldn't help but to ask

"Uhm... H-how did you guys end up injured like this?" 

Elaine asked awkwardly, but none answered. They even avoided eye contact with her, ignoring her question. And of course, Elaine realized that, but she just continued healing Isen in silence

"Alright. All done" Elaine said "Seraphina. Uhm... I need to go back to class" 

"Thanks Elaine" Said Sera. Elaine went to the door, but was suddenly stopped by Sera by holding her shoulder "Wait"

"Yes?"

"Don't tell Arlo about this. Please" Said Sera with a concerned look on her eyes. Elaine just nodded, and rushed back to her class

After Elaine left, the dorm was silent. No one was willing to start up a conversation. Especially Remi... her face has been so gloomy ever since they left Exoria

"Well... I'll be seeing you tomorrow. Make sure Blyke goes to the infirmary by the time he wakes up" Said Sera while getting the door

"Wait!" Remi shouted and stood up "I... I just wanted to say thanks again" She said while bowing her head

"No need to be so formal" Said Sera, while giving off a genuine smile. Now that was the Remi she knew "If anything, I was happy to help" 

Remi's eyes widened, and her cheeks reddened 'Why is she so cool?'

The next day... 8:12 AM, New Bostin

"John, are you sure you're not working out too much?" Said William at John who was laying on the ground panting heavily, his sweat dripping all over the floor "You are already strong"

"There's nothing wrong to improve your strength, dad" Said John, standing up to get a bottle of water that was on the main table "Why are you still reading a newspaper instead of just online anyway?"

William just clenched his newspaper, which crumpled it. Hearing him say that makes him feel older than he actually was. But, William suddenly noticed something odd from his son 

"John... aren't you more cheerful today than your first day here from your suspension?" William asked "Did something happen?"

"Its..." John went back to his gloomy face again. But after thinking back to it... he smiled "I made up with an old friend. That's all"

"Hm? Who do you mean?"

"It's Claire. Do you remember her?" John asked. But there was no way that his father could ever forget that. Especially since she was his first ever friend. Hearing that news just now made William genuinely relieved

"I'm really glad to hear that, John" William softly replied "I've had my doubts when I checked you up in Wellston, but it turns out you're really doing well now"

William said. But John felt guilty when he heard that. Because, he has yet to know about all the things John did over at Wellston. He was no longer pretending to be a cripple. Everyone fears him, just like how it was back at New Bostin

"Yeah..."

Suddenly, the news channel that was on the television caught John's attention. The news anchor, speaking up about the chaos that was happening in a city called 'Exoria' 

"Following up, we have many images of the damage around the city, along with a short video footage shortly after" Said the news anchor

Many images popped up on the screen of the damages that was done. The burning park, the destruction in a certain shopping mall, and many more small damages around the area

But John didn't mind those pictures, until the next one, the short video footage 

A person, wearing a black apparel with a mask was shown inside the shopping mall from a perspective of a surveillance camera, beating someone to a pulp after their sudden entrance from blowing up the mall, damaging nearby structures

Anyone would be watching the footage without putting too much mind. But, John's eyes widened. He knew that apparel too well. It was the hoodie and mask that Sera bought for him

'S-Sera? What is she doing there?' John thought. What was even stranger was, Sera was beating someone brutally. But John quickly regained his composure before William starts to notice

"H-hey dad..." John called

"Hm? What is it?"

"Is the house in Wellston still vacant?"

"Yeah... why are you asking?" William asked awkwardly

"Can I stay there once again? I really miss that place"

"What?!" William shouted "John... your headmaster already told me the circumstances about the incident. What makes you think that is a good idea?"

"Dad... Please. I need you to trust me" John said, determined. William realized that there might be another reason, other than him just 'missing' the place. But John probably won't say anything even if he asked

William sighed "Fine... but don't you dare ignore my calls ever again. Otherwise, I'll go there instantly, understand?" William said assertively

"Yeah..." John nodded "Got it"
